Virtually every sports league is seeing record ratings this year. So naturally the NBA playoffs opening weekend was down 9% from last year. League keeps tanking. I honestly think Adam Silver should make a public apology to all fans for the politics & ask them to please come back.
Clay Travis Twitter
Maybe I just don’t notice bc I’ve become numb to it but I don’t really see it a lot now.

No, unless you're lumping the WNBA in with it's daddy.
This is just some dog whistling by Clay Travis due to his listener base.
The Women's soccer league is also way more political than the NBA.

Last year was the highest ratings for the nba playoffs in 5 years.
Ratings are down 5% in the first round this year, probably due to no Golden State.

Through the first three nights of the playoffs, the NBA's TV partners are averaging 3.8 million viewers per game, down 5% versus the year-ago 3.99 million.

Is Clay Travis the most political "keep politics out of sports" sports commentator?

I think he gave up sports commentary in favor of political commentary a few years ago. He quit that fox sports betting show he was on and went straight to political grifting. It's a lot more financially beneficial.

Sure seems like it. People eat that up.

Yeah I figured as much. I just didn’t know if I was ignorant to current events.

The NBA got political around 2020 when everyone else was, and quieted down since like everyone else has.

Yeah that could be it

Your top 3 seeds in the West are non-major markets, too. DEN, OKC, and MIN. Then you also have PHO, DAL, and NO.
The 2 LA teams made it, but everyone knows they're not title material.

The NBA features the lowest IQ athletes. They're easier to manipulate.

The average IQ in the NBA is higher than both the NFL and MLB.
Bowlers scored the highest among professional "athletes".

Without question. From their commissioner to their propaganda apparatus in sports media and all of their public personalities it’s 100% political. When you have NBA people jumping into every corner of pop culture to create political and racial division it’s pretty obvious. From Kyrie to BYU volleyball to Gale King being attacked over Carlin Clark to the now annual racist MVP comments there’s a very clear agenda when it comes to the NBA.

If you can count on Clay Travis for anything, it's to be wrong on almost everything sports related.

I'd love for him to explain what is the NBA doing in the playoffs right now that is super-duper political.

Just smaller markets doing well in my opinion. I am a MIN fan and we were on the cusp of winning the West, which instead went to OKC. I believe name drive is crutical and the West is small market. The East, Boston, NY and MIami, though, are the opposite.

Couldn’t say.
I haven’t watched an NBA game since 2020.

NBA is actually mostly apolitical at times because of the power and influence of Stern and Silver.
They are the only league that requires players to be there and stand for the Anthem, and Silver has gotten them away again from any messaging, and they don't do the stupid Black National Anthem like the NFL still does
