There are much more R&R bands of course but I have always loved Prince.

Obviously he's know more for his music across other genres but the dude could obviously rock with the best of them.

I see bear linked While My Guitar Gently Weeps. He has great tone on that song, but it's not anything to the point where he all of a sudden becomes a virtuoso on guitar. They should have got the guy who played it in the studio to do it, since Prince basically played the same thing.
