My mom would sauté some almond slivers in butter. Made a huge difference in taste.. Of course with some chopped celery. That was about it maybe some seasoning. No pickle..
I always liked chicken salad with curry, golden raisins and celery...

Someone might have a copycat recipe if you do a search on here. I’m sure it’s been discussed.

Keyword homemade. None of these are homemade.
I've done this before.
Collect the eggs from the coup. Kill that chicken. Boil that chicken slowly with a small amount of liquid crawfish boil for about two hours. Then cold smoke for about three hours. Made my own relish with cucumbers from my garden. Which I use a very small amount in the mix. Made my own mayonnaise using that chicken eggs, my own lemons. Made dijon mustard using my own white wine I made, grounded my own mustard seed and got the honey from my brothers apiary.

Some like it creamy like a calvins
Got that recipe?
In all the years of the many posts about Calvin's chicken salad, there has never been a leak of any kind about the recipe. One day someone who has worked there may come along and spill the beans or give some hints. I keep hoping!
Here's one of the many old threads. My recipe comes somewhat close, but it's missing the "crack" ingredient, whatever that is.

I keep it simple…
Shredded rotisserie chicken
Mayo
Chopped red onion
Chopped celery
Garlic powder
Salt & Pepper

Did you mine the salt or grow everything for the spices in your crawfish boil? Dig your own well for the water?
If not, I question whether yours was really homemade.

I add low sodium chicken base to the mayo before mixing.

Found this Swanson's recipe for chicken salad.
May give some insight into the ingredients in the mix.
Ingredients:
1 can (4.5 ounces) Swanson Premium White Chunk Chicken Breast in Water, drained
3 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 dash ground black pepper
1/4 cup chopped celery
1 tablespoon finely chopped onion
3 cups mixed salad greens or lettuce
Stir the mayonnaise, lemon juice, pepper, celery, onion and chicken in a small bowl. Serve on salad greens.

I like adding curry powder, mango chutney, mayo, raisins, celery, and cashews for a curried chicken salad, as well...
