E4-E6 discussion.
Okay, so the story Morley tells Billy about how Flint killed that couple on that ship...do we know who that couple is or why Miranda would want them dead?
Man, Miranda has a fricking KILLER body. I forgot just how sneaky hot she is. Flint banging her and looking completely uninterested is hilarious though, and something I didn't grasp during my first watch. He says it's because she read that book to Richard Guthrie, but that's not the real reason...
Oh look, Eleanor is once again making stupid decisions with setting up taking Mr. Bryson's guns on the Andromache by force, even despite Mr. Scott's warnings. Shocker.
Flint is one lucky MFer to have Morley crushed by the ship.
The whole thing with Silver, Flint, and the pig was great.
Pretty big reveal from Richard Guthrie that Miranda is a Hamilton and her family founded the Bahamas, and also that Flint used to be a Royal Navy officer.
That scene on the beach where the old brothel lady (Mapleton) is using that giant syringe to clean out Max was rough. And we do learn that Anne is the one who threw Max to the wolves of The Ranger. When Max tells her that she's responsible and Anne hits her with the "I only thought they'd kill you." Brutal. Being a whore (or even just a woman) back in those days couldn't have been much fun.
I forget where Vane goes to get his mojo back. But I do remember it's weird and we see his weird arse body naked.
I forgot how cool the scene was where they finally catch the Andromache. Gave me huge Master and Commander vibes. And the whole plan with the sniper dude in the bird's nest shooting the helmsmen over and over to kill their wind was awesome. Seeing Billy try to help Dufresne by telling him nobody dies in their first fight was cool too, and holy shite Dufresne went primal when he ripped that dude's throat off...with his fricking mouth. That was wild. And even then when Flint and crew take over the ship, Bryson and his crew down are holed below in basically an armored room, and he sends the slave up to tell Flint that he sent word to the Scarborough and it's on the way...then the suicide bomb attempt at Flint by the slave. Just a badass scene all around.
You gotta love Miranda and how comfortable she is with being a sloot and how willing she is to throw it around whenever she needs to. And the pastor sex scene was hilarious. That shite was easy work for her. This is the description from the Black Sails fanpedia page:
Yeah, I'm not even sure "albeit very briefly" covers it.
I forgot about the scene with Billy and Flint. But I won't comment on that yet since there are some here who are on a first watch.
Absolutely loving this rewatch, and I remember that the whole thing with the Andromache chase is where the show really starts picking up. Are we going to still do three episodes for next week, or just the remaining two left in S1?

Vane went back to the place where he was raised looking for some tough SOBs, who aren’t influenced by Eleanor, to replace most of his crew who had abandoned him.

Well we never see how it happened, we just know Morley was crushed. I'm not 100% sure that was by chance.... you see Flint look directly at Billy after he and the old cook walk from behind the ship.

Seeing Billy try to help Dufresne by telling him nobody dies in their first fight was cool too,
Then after the fight they recall like 8 dudes who were killed on their first trip over, and they both kind of shrug it off.

The scene where they are cutting the mast of the Andromache off of their ship after it explodes?

I say we do the remaining two and then discuss the whole first season.
Also, could we put in the OP or the title where each new discussion starts?
ETA For the first time in years I've logged into a computer in order to try and keep up with this thread today if it picks up. Hell I had to log in just to be able to read and re-read Cocomos post in order to quote and reply.

Updated the OP with the new watch schedule. We'll finish S1 and start S2 this week.
I can't pretend any more that I get why people gave up on this show because it was too slow, if you made it to episode 4, you should be hooked. Episode 4 was loaded with stuff. I'll start with your stuff and come up with some of my takeaways too.
Not yet.
No it's not the real reason.
But yea, like I say, I think Miranda might be the hottest person to me this go around. She's definitely a little hidden freak for sure. It takes a certain type of person to screw a pastor.
But my guy was like a typical OT'er giving her the three best pumps of her life
Kind of wish Morley's character was around a little bit longer, I liked him. He was one of the truly good guys I think. The end of episode 3 or 4 that ended with him telling Billy "that's because you don't know about Mrs. Barlow" was a cool end to that episode. They mystery of Flint just builds and builds.
Just good from start to finish. Billy's mind has to be running wild after finding that letter. In the middle of a battle and he's trying to figure out if the captain is even on their side/has any good motives.
Bryson was kind of a badass himself. Dude is about to get attacked and he's making sure the chinaware cargo is bundled up safely. He had a pretty decent plan for sure that would have worked if the slaves didn't find a way to get a message out.
IMO, this is where you really start to wonder about Flint as far as "Jesus, does everybody around this dude die? And is he killing people on purpose or do bad things just befall people around him?"
I'd prefer just to do the two but I feel like people are having a hard time with stopping. There is a lot to take in on the season finale. But I'm fine either way.

I'm still just along for the ride and don't have much to contribute in terms of discussion yet. But Silver basically saying the other guys said the pig was okay had me laughing.
