Per Sam Amick

I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for not standing up to the refs since he was sort of underpaid and on the last year if his contract, but with this news I can’t defend him against that now.

quote:

My guy @sam_amick reports that Willie Green "has multiple years remaining on a (contract) extension that had not been previously reported."

So that slime ball Griff just swept a coaching extension under the rug?

Not gonna be a good look for the organization if we miss the playoffs.

Tweet is now deleted, and some are disputing it and saying the reporting is off.

Fingers crossed!!!

Even if it wasn't done recently, I'm trying to figure out at what point was Willie doing so great at his job that we felt it necessary to give him an extension...

Soggy add this to the OP if you want, Griff and Langdon got extensions too according to Christian Clark.

quote:

According to league sources, Green received his contract extension last year. He was not the only high-ranking Pelicans employee to get an extension either.

Executive vice president of basketball operations David Griffin and general manager Trajan Langdon also received contract extensions in 2023. The trio of Griffin, Langdon and Green is aligned contractually, meaning that the expectation is that the Pelicans continue moving forward with much of the same power structure that has been in place over the last three years. The Times-Picayune was not able to confirm when those contracts expire.
