Fridge freezer bar stuck on off/full

Whrilpool fridge about three years old. Freezer stopped making ice and after taking out the bucket/bin, realized the plastic bar that tells the freezer that the bucket/bin is full is stuck “up” and is telling the freezer to stop making ice. It’s not frozen stuck but impossible to push down. Can’t figure it out. It’s a plastic bar not a metal wire. Thinking it may need to be replaced.

it may be frozen stuck and you can't see it. i've had that happen when ice formed on my door ice maker auger. empty the freezer and try to hit it with a blow-dryer to melt anything.

A tale as old as time.
But yes as another suggested, do look on YouTube. Sometimes these ice makers have a reset somewhere on them that will make them work again. Otherwise it's a fairly easy replacement part to swap.

its got gears inside the ice maker that controls the arm, water valve, and everything else that it needs to make the ice
you can just unplug the ice maker and do without it, when you unplug the ice maker it stops sending water to it, the fridge will work perfectly without the ice maker
or you can buy another ice maker for it, using your fridges model number, to look for the correct replacement one for that model number. it just plugs in and it takes 5 minutes to replace it
last time i bought an ice maker, they cost around $100-$150

Mine has a button on it that you can press and make the ice maker go through a cycle. Probably the reason you can’t push it down is because of the gears within the ice maker

Mine will occasionally not completely dump all of the ice and it will have a sliver of ice caught in the rake. I tap that out and it goes back to normal.
