Going to skip this year and I’m ok with that.
I don’t understand this mentality. Will I boil 10+ times a year this season like normal? Not at these prices.
But a few hundred bucks split between three families isn’t going to stop me from getting together with friends and family to have one of the most enjoyable get togethers at least once.
We boiled two sacks for Easter. Every family threw in 80 bucks and we had a great time. Find another event that you can spend less than $80 and have that good of a time.

We have a neighbor at the camp that likes to reminisce about 25 cent crawfish and yes he is old.
In asia I had crawfish flown in from a neighboring island. Under 600 bucks for 12 sacks

Too much water.

Why do people still fall for the “prices will drop after Easter” bit?
With inflation the way it is, once people raise prices they ain’t coming down.

And he probably had neighbors who would reminisce of the day when it was cheaper.

Because prices do drop every damn year after Easter. Maybe not the first week after, but they will drop

Alumni association bowl at drift will be the best value if you show up hungry.

They paying 3 at the docks for spillway still

LSU Alumni Crawfish boils didn’t even show up on my radar this year. Last years was a good time.

Nicholls is having one this week for the CAA, 200 a person. VIP 250.

I would love for you to prove your statement I bet you couldn’t. Literally every week after Easter the price drops to the farmer. It dropped .50 cents Monday the day after Easter this year, and has dropped after every Easter the last 20 years. GTFO with that inflation BS crawfish has nothing to do with inflation

Correct, but what was the price last Easter vs this one? Percentage wise, what was the decrease YOY?
Posted on 4/7/24 at 9:24 pm to Capt ST
Price for Easter week last year was $1.25lb compared to $3.50lb this year. The price difference from last year to this year was solely off of the lack of supply.

When you say $3 at the docks... do you mean they wait for boats to come back and they buy them straight off the boat?
Posted on 4/7/24 at 9:38 pm to FournetteForEver7
A dock means a shop where you bring your sacks at the end of the day. They weigh them and tag them and store them until a buyer comes with a truck a picks them up.

I get the emails. I've been a few times but not sice they moved to Drift. Need some good crawfish and Boilhouse is one of few I trust in central houston.

I can tell you that in the High Water of '73, crawfish were super abundant. I would come home on Friday night from college and go to Tony's "Hut" restaurant in Opelousas and pick them up boiled for 10 cents a pound. Would go pick them up and have an ice cold mug of beer while waiting for 50 cents. $1.50 plus tax and out the door.
