I don't think LA Democrats have someone like that on the bench.
See the next part of my post
That's the only reason the idiot faction of the LA GOP should feel OK right now. The DEMs are somehow a bigger shite show.

Landry overall ran on cultural issues. Fear of crime, etc . His biggest advantage is that the Republican base really only cares about shite like showing up for the anthem, DEI, Library books and the like. Meanwhile the legislature sits around and debates as well about circle jerk topics because they don't want to address real issues like taxes, infrastructure, education funding and health care, etc. because it is too hard.
They know the electorate will eat up this shite , start threads about it, etc. Landry goes on Fox & Friends gets national exposure . This anthem issue costs nothing and whether he wins or loses he sees it as a win. He gets his face on TV.

You probably have no idea what a real Leftist, is.
JBE is moderate. He signed our abortion ban.

Gov. John Bel Edwards signed sweeping legislation Tuesday that would criminalize abortion in Louisiana and ban the procedure in nearly all circumstances from the moment of implantation if Roe v. Wade is overturned. The legislation does not include exceptions for rape and incest.
An actual leftist would call him a right winger.

When he ran in 2015 for Governor, his voting record and the way he acted actually painted him as a moderate. Voting record was socially conservative, but fiscally voted for higher taxes and budget shenanigans.
Once elected Governor, though, his true colors started showing, especially after winning again in 2019.

Again, he signed our abortion ban in...2022.

He pretty much had no choice there.
The tran males competing in female sports veto. The COVID lockdowns and mask mandates. The pardoning of convicted murderers at the end. Going through the DNR to force parishes to accept the shame coastal lawsuit "settlement" (which Landry signed off on too). Support for increased taxes, though most of that was thankfully DOA by a Republican legislature.
I don't believe those things happen in he were in his first term looking at a re-election bid.

I would have voted for a different R, but he dropped out before the primary.

I didn’t vote for him the first time.
He was not the only Republican running.

His significant lead in the polls would have secured victory in a runoff election, sparing Louisiana the cost of such an event. Despite persistent grievances about leadership spanning generations, we must recognize that we, as residents, bear responsibility for electing this leadership. The shortcomings of our state rest upon us, our ancestors, and our cultural norms, and regrettably, meaningful change seems unlikely in the near future. I just hope my children move elsewhere when they are able to do so.

It's instructive to note how quickly Republican voters become dissatisfied with their elected officials and how completely silent Democrats are when their elected officials plunge the entire country into chaos.

Same, but had there been a runoff with Wilson, I would have voted for Landry without hesitation.

Louisiana is socially conservative, fiscally liberal.
Its really the worst of both worlds.

I'd vote for a homeless methhead before I'll ever vote for a Democrat.

Yes, exactly that.
Compared to a certified moron like Landry, they have a shot.
