Is O on the list? Just asking for a friend. There is only 1-2 better coaches on that list better than Kelly. MAYBE - none in the SEC. Norvell at FSU and Whittingham at Utah.
“ What ranking surprised you the most?
Adam Rittenberg: People might not like Brian Kelly personally, but the facts overwhelmingly show that he's a top 10 coach. He twice took Notre Dame to the four-team College Football Playoff, went 34-6 at Cincinnati with an undefeated season, won the SEC West in his first year at LSU, has 13 finishes in the AP top 20 and owns two Division II national titles. I like some of the young coaches in this top 10, but they haven't accomplished a fraction of what BK has in his career.
Defend your vote:
Chris Low: Maybe it's just me, but winning -- and doing so at every level over three decades -- counts for something. Kelly won two Division II national championships at Grand Valley State, won two Big East titles at Cincinnati, and took Notre Dame to a BCS national championship game and two more CFP appearances. Most recently, he guided LSU to the 2022 SEC championship game in his first season in Baton Rouge.
Kelly has also proven he can turn around downtrodden programs quickly. (See Central Michigan and Cincinnati.) Even Notre Dame had not won more than seven games in the three seasons prior to Kelly's arrival in 2010. So anybody who didn't have Kelly in their top 10 either hasn't been paying attention, doesn't particularly like him or is too young to appreciate the difficulty of coaching at a high level over a long period of time. I'll take proven substance over flash every time.”

Besides Kirby and Dabo there isn’t a coach on that List that should be above BK

If you are using this as your guidepost you are flat arse lost....it's almost laughable.

Well he just turned a 4-8 to an 11-2 team in just one year, then followed it up with a 14-1 year and national championship game appearance.

ESPN is gonna ESPN. Don't pay 'em no mind.

This might actually the funniest post I've ever seen on this board.

Then why isn’t Sonny Dykes top 10 in the previous year for doing that at TCU. Did you realize that DeBust recruited worse at Washington than the two previous coaches?
Do you realize Washington had SEVEN wins last year by one score? They easily could have been 7-5.
Do you realize last years Washington teams starters were more than 75% players that DeBust didn’t recruit?
He’s 37-9 at the D1 level. That’s not top 5

Who is a better tactician? Just asking. Saban himself made the quote about Kelly being one of the few great tacticians left in the game.

Then Mack Brown should be on the list if that is your criteria.

If he didn’t take the Bama job he’d not be ranked there. I know he’s going to fail miserably and it’ll be glorious

That’s the only list that matters, the list of 12 teams in the New CFP. The list and polls are all hyperbole, only REAL action on the field makes any list or poll FACTS.

First thing I thought of also. They probably would have put him in the bottom half of the top 10 but not having coached one game at Alabama shot him up to #2.

Deboer has had 2 good seasons in a 2nd tier conference.
Lanning has had 1 good season in a 2nd tier conference.
Sark just got his first 10 win season in a decade of coaching.
Leipold...c'mon.
I've never seen a coach slandered worse than BK solely of off personality and absolutely nothing about their resume

Because Dykes is 89-72 as a head coach. Don't be dumb.

So the same players that were 4-8 two years prior? I wonder if you discredit Jay Johnson for winning with Mainieri recruits.
Deboer has turned around two separate programs in a total of 4 years and been to a national championship game. He had literally done nothing but be successful. I don't understand the Debust joke. When has he proven to be a bust?

There's a lot that goes into being a good coach. I don't know who is a better "tactician". Can you point to specific examples of what that even means?

He’s already busting at Alabama. He hired two coordinators with zero SEC coaching experience. He has four total relevant seasons as a head coach. Kelly turned around more programs than DeBust but if that’s your sole criteria then Lance should be over him with what he’s done at Kansas

Please explain to us why DeBust should be over Dabo, Kelly, etc
