Depends entirely on what you’re playing. If you’re playing competitive online shooters, fps is king. If you’re playing graphically intensive single player narrative games, as long as you’re getting a decent and, more importantly consistent, frame rate, resolution is more important.

As an example, I’m currently playing Horizon Forbidden West at a rock solid 70fps or so, so I see no reason to reduce graphical settings from max. If I were at 50fps, that would be a different story.

For any game that even resembles something falling anywhere under the very wide sub genre of “action games” frame rate will always be better because those games require a degree of skill how much so depending on each game and your ability to output that skill adequately is much better with higher frame rates.

It’s why playing BB feels a bit quaint to me as the game is locked to 30 FPS. I’m used to it by now for sure so it’s factored into my play but imagine a FromSoft game launching like that now. I haven’t played elden ring in forever but I remember around launch it struggled bigly holding 60 fps on pretty much all platforms but I imagine that’s all ironed out by now but it was a big deal for some.

Then go play a game extremely like those in lies of P and it’s ps5 performance mode pretty much has held 60fps since day 1 as I recall and the difference between 45-60 in that game could be winning and losing
