Headed to Dallas area w/ family for mini vacation...We have one day to explore and considering stockyards since we've never been. I know there are a ton of options, just trying to avoid tourist traps.

I'm far from knowledgeable enough to tell you must haves. But last year we went to Lonesome Dove and Cattleman's Steak House. The former was pretty impressive. The latter was about like a Western Sizzlin steak, except, way more expensive. Hope that helps.

Ok, so Lonesome Dove is worth the hype as opposed to sizzlers AKA Cattlemans...Thanks

Joe T. Garcia's Mexican.

Will be busy with a wait, but it is the best Mexican you will find.

We like Lonesome Dove, too.

Awesome place - especially when the weather is nice. Your first time there it’s definitely weird rolling up and seeing a line almost a block long to get in. But they have more than enough space and the line moves pretty quickly.

OP if you do go there, it’s cash only, but they have an ATM.

Researching now...My young kids are picky eaters. Lonesome Dove would be last on their list lol

Weather should be ideal for patio seating. Older stockyards threads seem to shite on this place but I imagine its not terrible and atmosphere is a plus

Joe T's is a great place to sit on the patio and have a margarita or beer. The food is below average. No one goes there for the food.
