That yeast smell as you walk past the cafeteria in the morning, from all the rolls being made
Riding your bike down a huge dirt hill and almost dying
Birthday parties at McDonalds
Recording songs on the radio with your cassette / radio player
Watching a recorded TV Show or Movie on VHS and at the end, it switches over to some other show that was recorded over

Remember the milk pouches? Or when you could finally use the salad bar?

Staring out the window on long car rides in the rain. Watching rain drops drip down the window and seeing which one wins the race all the way down.
Also seeing how many stripes in the road you could count before they started passing too quickly.

Getting inside of an old tractor tire and then having my podnahs roll the tire down the slope in a pasture that lead to a bayou in the back of my street. Lots of faith in the guys running along side you that they would tip the tire over before it hit the edge of the bayou cause there was about a 10 foot drop to the water.

Lawn darts, making forts out in the woods behind my grandparents home, little league baseball, climbing trees, and endless out door adventures.
Also - not coming home until dark and no one worried abt it.

Asking dad to roll down his window a little because the cigarette smokes too thick in the truck.
Hitting rocks and dirt clods with a bat.
Shooting Cicadas with BB guns.
Having BB gun fights.
The smell of fresh baked bread in Grandmas kitchen.

Did this too. We would wrap up something with duck tape and make a baseball. We took turns having hitting practice. Suprisingly, the ball would travel a nice distance when hit solid.

Grew up in a small town. I’m an 80’s kid. So no cell phones then. When we wanted to find our friends for a baseball or football game we’d ride our bikes around town to different friends houses and whoever had the most bikes in their yard, we knew where the boys were.

We would have water guns while riding bikes in order to play tag.
I remember when the Super Soaker came out….OMG

Renting a VCR and several movies, usually on the weekend of my birthday.
Saturday morning cartoons.
Bottle rocket wars with my friends.
Standing in the gravel driveway, under the live oak trees at my grandparents in Kentwood with a big stick and hitting rocks for hours at a time.
