Ownership has consistently been dog shite.

Whether it’s the fans, stadium , or ownership- it’s just an embarrassment to have a team in Oakland. 5k fans in attendance yesterday on an opening weekend Saturday. They need to get that team out of Oakland asap. Staying there does nothing for anyone.

II use to go to A’s games in the 80s & 90s. It was a dump then, but the Athletics were winning with a star-studded roster and drawing well. The Coliseum was built primarily for the Raiders.

I'd watch them in Vegas, sorry not coming to Oakland

true for the most part.
one exception being that Cleveland claims the history of the old Browns (now the Ravens) and Baltimore's history began in 1996.

There's no way they accept that. The team was offering far less than that. Oakland should tell them to get the hell out now, and lose a chunk of that $67M a year in TV money.

I remember reading something that the A's are reported to make $65 million (or thereabouts) this year from their TV broadcasting rights, and something like $70 million next year. However, if the A's don't play their home games in the Bay area the TV network has the right to renegotiate the deal. If the A's can't make a deal with Oakland to stay until the LV stadium is complete, Sacramento and Salt Lake being the leading candidates.
Basically, if the A's don't play in Oakland until they move to Las Vegas, ownership will lose tens of millions of dollars.

There's retired Expos #s up in Nationals Park.
The Nats are pretty weird when it comes to claiming history. They fly WS flags that the old Washington Senators (now the Twins) won because it was a “DC championship,” or something to that effect.

Among their requests, they are asking for a consideration to sell the team and allow it to stay in Oakland.

The A's haven't had a decent owner since Connie Mack.
Even though they won 3 Series under Charlie Finlay, he was universally despised.

Kaval already said a long time the name of the team isn't changing.

But they claim both plus the Homestead Grays - old negro league team.

quote:The Sonics history is staying in Seattle as well, but I can't think of an MLB example, minus the Expos/Nats/DC thing, which is unique because Selig was trying so hard to get the Expos into DC.

With their crowd size lately, they should seek out a HS field

It actually worked better for the A’s until the Raiders returned from L.A. and they built that stupid Mt. Davis structure.

The A's have been longer in Oakland than in Philadelphia. They adopted the Green and Gold colors in Kansas City. They were historically blue and white. I think they keep the A's name and colors but if they switched back to blue and white it would be fine.

Oakland and Seattle. Two cautionary tales of taking their pro franchises for granted and watching them walk away.
