Pretty sad you to declare it in order to feel good about yourself.

A good friend of mine who’s Episcopalian, told us one year on Easter Sunday his family went to church and the priest walked to the pulpit and said something to the effect of “In today’s world with so many points of view, one thing we can all agree on is He is Risen. Happy Easter, everybody…….then dismissed the service. After all the work getting up early, dressing up, finding someplace to park at a packed church, they were there for a total of about 15 minutes….

This was years ago, but one year I went to Saturday before Easter mass and for some reason the priest thought it would be a good idea to do.. I forget. I think it was first communion, whatever you call it when people officially become catholic and I want to say marry a couple (it wasn't a wedding, they were already married, but I guess blessed the marriage).

I was with a few people and we were going somewhere after mass, but when the priest said this at the beginning of mass we all looked at each other like "you got to be fricking kidding me". We agreed we would split when that part started (which was about 45 mins into mass) We found out later that it lasted 2 hrs and 40 mins.

Baw when I was a youngin we were at Sunday School at 9 AM on Sunday morning, followed by the Worship service at 11. If you were lucky you got home in time to catch the second half of the football game. Then back at church at 6 for the Sunday night service. And prayer meeting on Wednesday night. Plus throw in choir practice, youth group, etc, somewhere in there.

I respect men that attend mass. I do not respect men that need validation and praise for attending mass.

If you like the Easter Vigil, don't miss the long-form Pentecost Vigil if you can find it.

Our Easter Vigil was 3hrs 45mins. Did all 12 of the pre-1955 Prophesies and chanted the Litany of the Saints.

Its kind of brutal in a holy way but to me finishes off Lent with a bang. The whole mood changes when "Christ is Risen" is announced and roll into the actual Mass.
