I thought there was a thread on this topic but I could not locate it using the search function. What is everyone's go-to spot in Chinatown for true authentic Chinese food? I've been to R&G Lounge twice (loved it!) and House of Nanking. Just looking for something different this time.

I always liked Brandy Ho's, but I haven't been in years.

I've been to Begoni Bistro 12+ times and always have a good meal. Have also enjoyed Capital. China Live isn't "traditional," but they do really well with spice.

A few years back I was outside a store selling shark fins and a creeper van rolled up and threw out garbage bags filled with cabbages.
Same trip I was in a restaurant that the bathroom looked like it was in the Quarter and went through Madri Gras.

There is a lot of restaurant turnover in SF due to Covid and the drop in number of downtown workers. 606 (at 606 Broadway) just opened in Feb and is excellent. It's a rebranding and renovation of New Sun Hong Kong restaurant by a new generation of the same family.
It's in Chinatown near the edge of North Beach.
