This is about control and nothing more. People found ways to waste time in the office, I mean just look at this website for starters. Your top performers will be your top performers regardless.

What was that rant on How I Met Your Mother where the Goliath Bank guy went on and on about how he didn’t want workers to remember they had a life outside their building? Yeah that’s all this is about.

No, there is rampant 'double-dipping' going on right now with remote workers. Particularly in the IT work-space.

People are getting multiple work-from-home IT jobs, barely performing at any of them but drawing full salaries and benefits from each.

Nobody is forcing you to stay with the company you are with. If they make rules that you do not want to follow then quit and go somewhere else.

Well we know that wfh productivity is down. So if you are saying the reasons is that those those who self select into wfh are those that are going to be less productive regardless of office or wfh, it seems this policy is perfect.
