Draft Value Chart

Knowing Loomis doesn't like to sit on his hands, take a look at the Saints current draft capital chart. The Saints #14 pick is worth 1100 points, the #45 is worth 450. Our 5th-round picks are worth between 20 and 30 points. Assuming conventional logic, next year's first is worth about 500 points, the second is worth about 250 points and the third is worth 100 points.

If he wants to be aggressive and go up and get somebody (maybe Joe Alt), here is what it would take:

#7 LAC (1500) 2024 and 2025 1st
#9 CHI (1350) 2024 1st 2025 2nd
#10 NYJ (1300) 2024 1st 2025 2nd
#11 MIN (1250) 2024 1st 2025 3rd
#12 DEN (1200) 2024 1st (2) 2024 5ths
#13 LV (1150) 2024 1st 2024 5th

I don't see him trading this year's second with the first, but I don't see any way he doesn't package the four 5th rounders we have to move up somewhere.

I can't see them touching 2025 picks since this will be Dennis Allen's make it or break it year, and they'll need a full draft to attract a new coach.

I don't see anything but a trade up into the 3rd or 4th.

I rather them trade down a couple spots or maybe early 20's and try to get a third or fourth round pick.

This draft is full of offensive linemen.

You can still get a left tackle ( maybe get Mims, Guyton, or the BYU kid ) with the 1st pick.

Let him compete for left tackle and then probably kick Penning to left guard or try him out at right tackle.

This teams needs cheap backups to it's aging players and who knows, you might hit on a couple of those 5th round guys.

We really need to trade down some this year. Tackle is deep and we can still get a good one later in the draft. Unless someone unexpected like Nabors or Bowers drops. There’s holes everywhere, Loomis shouldnt even think about trading up.

We can do fine with whatever OT is there at 14.
If anything we need to trade back and get an extra early 2nd

If Alt is still there at 9, you jump the jets to get him

We need players. We don’t have a ton of flexibility cap wise and have an aging roster. We potentially have a coaching change coming. We’re very far from being a couple of players away. If we trade a bunch of picks for Alt this front office should be lambasted.

The Saints would only have 3 picks this year because of past trade ups..

Loomis can figure out how to get under the cap every year but those trade ups are lost forever.. I wish they would pump the brakes on these trade ups. Sure some have worked out but lately haven't..

This shite is why the Saints remain one of the oldest rosters in the league... You have to build from the draft. Constantly trading picks away is what fricks up the salary cap.
