Their biggest mistake was making that last season split into like 6 hour long episodes instead of doing it right and setting up the ending in a normal season.
Yeah, especially since a lot of the mythology revolves around the number seven - seven kingdoms, seven gods, etc.
Closing the story with seven full seasons would fit better.

I'm doing the same thing and finished season 6 last week, having a real internal debate if I should tough out 7 and 8.

I did the same within the last year
I stopped after season 5 ended
It was a great experience to rewatch after a long hiatus. I used to rewatch every year before a new season would come out

Question: at the end of season 2, Joffrey decides to wed the Tyrell girl….why didn’t the Lannister’s hold against her the fact that she had previously been with the “traitor” Renly Baratheon….that was never even mentioned. Why?

It was a political alignment during war time. Standard feudalism stuff
This is like if the Jets asked Aaron rodgers why he rooted for the packers all those years when he played for Green Bay

Which always made me wonder with Renly dead and Catelyn Stark literally in that camp why the hell did she not and try push Margery marrying Rob? It’s been a minute but Rob hadn’t married yet had he?

If he wasn't married yet, he was promised to one of the Frey girls at that point.

The first time i watched the series it was after it had already ended, so i essentially binged it
binging it like that just really puts into perspective how rushed the final few seasons were and it really highlights the contrast in quality between the seasons

What pisses me off is that we'll never get a true resolution tot he story. Fat man didn't know how to end the story, gave D&D some vague bullshite, then they baked that bullshite into a state fair blue-ribbon bullshite pie, served it to us, and told us it was good.
I have completely given up any hope of more books.

I’m just glad House of Dragon is doing well. Arson’s Conquest will be awesome

Fair but I’m not sure Frey even has the chance to pull that shite if there’s a Stark/Tyrell alliance

Another question: why did everyone always refuse Milk Of The Poppy?? What did it do to you? Apparently something awful and everlasting….

Could render a person unconscious, groggy, cloudy headed for an extended period of time and depending on the circumstance, the character would rather endure the pain instead.

It never ceases to amaze me how many shows tail off after 4 or 5 seasons
I've watched a lot of British series, and when I first started I was extremely disappointed that most only got something like three seasons (if that).
Then over time I realized that's actually the best way to consistently produce it.

I rewatched it recently too
The early seasons seem to last a lot longer

One of the worst choreographed fight scenes in history

Why?
Like the others said, it was for the Money. The Lannister's source of wealth for hundreds of years were their gold mines and they went dry. They needed to ally themselves with the Tyrell's because they were the richest from their fertile farm lands.
