I know someone who caught a murder charge after knocking someone out & killing them. Guy hit his head on a parking bumper

You don’t need to be a lawyer to understand you aren’t automatically guilty for punching someone and they die

A lot on this website like to romanticize about fights and bar fights. After 12 years old, if you get in a fight you chose to 99.9% of the time. There is almost always an out. At some point you have to grow up and leave
You gotta remember, fights help make men MAGA

Absolutely you can. You better hope it’s clear the other person was the aggressor and you were in a defense situation

And what are those counsel?
someone swings at you first, you swing back and knock them the frick out, and this shitty scenario happens where they die from the fall.
I mean that's an easy one judge. There's no intent to kill there.

Is this the Fred's on the river?
Posted on 3/25/24 at 12:54 pm to TeddyPadillac
If someone attacks you first you can put a bullet in their head and not be guilty of anything, much less just a punch
Intent to kill doesn’t even matter

The espn production crew didn’t like coming to Baton Rouge because tigerland is trashy? ok

A stomping on his head scenario? Toast
Yeah that’s what did Garrett ward in. Once there was a witness that said he kicked him when he was down it was over

seems like you are likely leaving out a ton of details that matter here.

I wasn’t there; just read about it in the paper. Guy is out now so don’t know what stuck

Did someone say there was a video ?

Garrett Ward received a 30 year sentence.

Pretty sad that a guy lost his life over a stupid bar fight. Nothing good happens in Tigerland anymore.

I mean it comes down to does he have a self defense or stand your ground claim
Someone dying from your actions doesn’t make you guilty of anything in and of itself
When we thought it was a head stomping situation that makes self defend or stand your ground basically impossible. Now that a one punch scenario is on the table those two defenses are absolutely possible

Waiting in the parking lot after being asked to leave will play a role into intent. But as usual, all the facts are not available for us armchair lawyers to know what happened.

Getting in a fight and hitting someone once, who was supposedly the person starting the raucus in the first place, isn't the same as beating an old homeless guy to death with multiple blows who literally can't fight back b/c he's too old.
Now if we find out he sucker punched him from behind or something like that, that's a different scenario.
