Why are we supposed to hate Russia and Putin?

Has Putin destroyed anyone’s life here on Tigerdroppings? Just curious why I am told to hate Putin and Russia

Because ancient boomers just can’t get over the Cold War.
Seriously, that’s the answer. That generation of politicians had the chance to bring Russia into our orbit and we told them to frick the frick off.
Russia has asked us for help-TWICE- in the past 110 years for help setting up an American style federal constitutional republic. Both times we told them to frick off, and both times they have swung the other way.
Setting aside nebulous bullshite like “spread of communism” or “freedom”, the United States and Russia are not inherently opposed from a national interest standpoint. In an alternate world, they’d be our greatest partner alongside the EU.

Started during the Black Jesus years, I think the big O and his henchmen(women) had some personal stake in things.
I remember him scoffing at Romney regarding Russia. A few years later they are our sworn enemy.

I don’t know about hate, but he wants to neutralize NATO, which will be a diplomatic disaster for the United States which will have long term reverberations on our economy.

What compels you to like Putin?

“Tell Vlad that after this election I’ll have more flexibility to give him what he wants.” Paraphrased but the gist of O’s stance on the alleged tyrant.

Presidents Clinton and Bush (x2) have way, way more to do with the most recent alienation of Russia than Obama does.
Obama kept doubling down absolutely, but he didn’t cause that problem.

Oceania was at war with Eastasia. Oceania had always been at war with Eastasia.

Should have been phased out 30 years ago.

By who? I see this here often.
Who is supposed to just randomly eliminate an alliance that 30+ individual nations want to exist?

Russia’s government goals are/has been to damage the US and other democracies, that it plain and simple

Cold War era blanket of familiarity and comfort.
For roughly 50 years, the American public at large did not question or even blink at anything our MIC did because everything was geared towards containing and defeating the Soviet Union and communism.
When the USSR ultimately fell, I think our MIC’s War Machine soon realized that business wasn’t going to be as prosperous.
I’ve long thought China presents a far greater threat in this modern era and by all accounts they have their tentacles already spread throughout this land but for some reason, the CCP largely gets a pass except when the topic of Taiwan occasionally comes up.

And why wasn’t it? Partially because 90% of Eastern Europe begged us not to and to let them join because they knew Russian aggression would eventually return. And here we are.
This idea some have that we should sit back and appease the bully is bizarre. I guess on the bus home in grade school you just cowered in the corner.

But you have people like Bill O'Reilly who truly believe that Russia will roll in to Western Europe the day NATO crumbles. That's how stupid this has become.

You believe that Schmitt?

Us. Its just an excuse for us to control others and provide military welfare now.
This is why we loathe new programs. They outlive their purpose (Cold war) grow (NATO expansion) and make the public feel like its impossible to ever live without.
The best prevention from runaway bureaucracy is to stop it from forming.
