There are hundreds of events in DFW from the Cotton Bowl to Samuel Grand Park to all the rooftop bars and restaurants. What I've been told by friends who went to Oregon for the eclipse a few years ago is to find a spot where you can see the horizons. Apparently the lighting on the horizons is as spectacular as the actual eclipse.

Best place is to find yourself a nook outside the city with an ice chest and a grill.
(Not sharing mine though lol)

We will get about 98% totality here in Granbury, so I'll drive about 30 miles east to Cleburne to get 100%
100% or don’t bother.
The eclipse in '17, we had about 92% or so, but even at full eclipse for us, it still appeared as just a cloudy-ish day.
Very underwhelming.

As someone who went up to Chicago for it, 100% this.
A full eclipse is an amazing experience. Don’t shortchange yourself.

Where would a horizon be visible just east of Dallas?

A total eclipse is on my dad’s bucket list, so they are going. They got a hotel room last year, and they were already hard to come by. If you don’t have something already, you probably aren’t going to find anything.

East side of Lake Ray Hubbard if you can find a spot. There are a few small parks along the shore but not many.

Cedar Creek Brewery in Athens is having a viewing party which could be a good spot.

Intersection of MLK Blvd and Malcolm X Blvd southeast of downtown Dallas will be a good place to set up shop for the eclipse.

I'll be at 100% in my backyard - gonna be weird.
