On the same day of being named the NABC District 22 Coach of the Year, McNeese first-year head coach Will Wade has been named a finalist for two National Coach of the Year Awards – The Jim Phelan Award and the Hugh Durham Award.
Wade, the Southland Conference Coach of the Year, has guided McNeese to its most successful season as a Division I school, rolling up a 30-3 record while capturing the Southland Conference regular season and tournament championships. He’ll lead the Cowboys into Thursday’s first round of the NCAA Tournament as a No. 12 seed against 5th-seeded Gonzaga at 6:25 CT.
Wade is one of 20 finalists for each award.

The Jim Phelan National Coach of the Year Award is presented annually to the top head coach in division I college basketball. The award is named in honor of a legendary bow-tied coach who spent his entire head coaching career at Mount Saint Mary’s University.

The Hugh Durham National Coach of the Year Award is presented annually to the top mid-major head coach in college basketball.
Congratulations to the General

Does this help us or hurt us when we re-hire him? Salary wise.

Imagine if someone made a thread for every time Saban was a “finalist” for coach of the year at Bama

Doesn’t seem like he’s being spurned by the college basketball establishment to me.

I'd rather talk about Will Wade than our crappy basketball program.

It’s amazing how stupid we look in this whole thing. Especially when he lands a P5 job and does well there, as we know he will.

Sucks.

Every time The General chalks up a W, Scott Woodward has a bad night of sleep apnea.

Scott Woodward chose to keep Verge Ausberry and fire Will Wade.

Make it make sense.
