ETA: wait, having re-read the op, it appears you’re blaming the cyclist.
Not fully blaming the cyclists but one has to freaking help themselves. Traveling 60mph down a dark country road with an opposing car approaching is not the ideal safe situation for a rider wearing dark clothes. By law they should have a headlight and a tail light so in that regards, yes it is the bicyclist’s fault. Plus you are just a dumb arse not to do whatever you can to babe visible. Now that I think more about it, yes, it is their own damn fault.

Hmmmmm…. Does the bear have headlights?
Is the bear going 50miles an hour?

Thick cut peppered and applewood smoked. And they used a basket weave technique

I do a lot of cycling in the street and this was a bad decision by him. I wear bright cloths and have lights front and back. I want to be seen a mile away. Sometimes around here I see people wearing dark cloths and have to shake my head.

Hey man no problem with owning a take. I just used to ride bike taxis in Nola as a side hustle, and I can tell you, for fact, people don’t give a frick if you have on reflective clothing, lights on your rig, etc… they will still try to frick your shite up with a vehicle. I could tell you all the tales. It’s wild how much bikes trigger some drivers.

Then yes the bear will eat you and, undoubtedly, shite you out in the woods.

Sunrise is not until 7:11. Light is not peeking through at 6:30. Just reread the article and it states it happened “just before 6:30”.

Was he being responsible when he ran over the guy?
Toxicology report says he wasn't impaired nor do they suspect he was impaired. If he were texting that would be fairly easy to prove.

quote:Barely peeking through at best. I was at the boat launch this weekend at 6:30 and still needed a headlamp to see to get everything ready to go. And about 80 miles east of New Iberia, so we're a few minutes ahead on sunrise time.
It said the guy today was riding at 6:30 am. Light is peeking through at that point.

Do people simply not own light colored clothes any more or are they just too clueless? I see this fairly often driving home at night.
And walk against traffic so you can see what is about to run over you.
(Not out in the traffic lane, but on the side of the road and be ready to step out of the way when some Karen is driving by while posting on Nextdoor or Facebook.

I didn’t read the article and don’t know the details of the situation, but when I drive I’m not depending on the other guy to be prepared or heads up… I place that burden upon myself.
Here's where it happened:
No shoulder, no bike lane, no street lights, dark clothes, no light on the bike, no reflector, 45 MPH speed limit. By the time the driver could see him it was likely too late.

Ahhhh so this is all because people picked on you in the past. Makes sense.

This statement is kinda laughable.
Were his headlights not working?

Maybe, but this guy had no reflective clothing and no lights on the front or rear of the bike, which are required by law.

So a carnivore in the wild, predestined by life to eat meat, is the same as a truck hitting someone, just because they were in the same area? Is that the take?

I was driving at 6:30, T. Light, like I said, is peeking through. It’s called dawn.
