I’m not saying he ran people off, all but 2 guys waited until at least a week after he was hired until they even announced. I’d guess he recruited most of them but the point is whether he wanted to bring in his guys or he just couldn’t convince guys to stay he’s responsible for that roster. Yes we can be lenient on how we judge year 1 but we’ve just excused everything about it all together which is foolish. Again and I’ll never stop pointing this out, his teams don’t play good basketball. It’s a foundational problem that’s going to limit every season.

And there’s nothing wrong with that opinion

Yeah and none of us will ever know why. If those guys waited to see who was hired and then didn’t want to play for him after his recruiting pitch then that’s their choice. It doesn’t really say anything good or bad about him. Most guys want to know what you can offer them these days. Yeah he’s responsible for the roster that was put together.
I’ve said multiple times that if he doesn’t recruit and they don’t improve then he will be and should be fired. The only point I’ve made is that it doesn’t hurt anyone to acknowledge that they improved this year over last. It doesn’t say anything about the future. If progress doesn’t continue then he will be gone.

Agree with most everything in your post. The only thing I’d say is that the talent was upgraded this year. I was actually surprised at how many serviceable to good players he brought in. So we improved but on a 2-16 season, I wish we’d keep that in mind but at least he got some players to come.

Here’s to hoping we get some surprise recruits and transfers. We need them. I hope Chest stays and gives us a rebounding threat.

I think he’ll do fine in that area just wish his teams wouldn’t play so sloppy.

Wise up bud... your butt buddy Wade got us in this mess. Mac is bringing the program back from the dead. You idiots prolly wanted to fire Saban too... morons.
What mess? What drastic sanctions were we hit with from the NCAA?
The only mess was self-imposed?
This is such a BS narrative that has no factual basis.
Woodward and Tate are responsible for any “mess” created.
Anybody with half a brain and an ounce of understanding on how the IARP operated knew that the “allegations” put in the NOA by thr NCAA were nothing more than attempt to save face. The IARP was never going to be able to issue sanctions on what the NCAA could actually prove under its bylaws.
Woodward knew this, but used as a way of getting rid of a guy he didn’t like, and simpletons like yourself eat up the narrative that Wade “got busted”, really a 10-game suspension is worth burning down a successful program. Or my personal favorite, he did it to save football… wrong again. The IARP simply didn’t act the same way that the committee on infractions did for decades.
But you simple minded morons want to keep buying that BS, enjoy watching NIT basketball.

I will. Enjoy watching McNeese get blown out by Gonzaga.

McMahon is a serviceable recruiter. Glad most of us can agree on that part.
I do agree that fundamentally we aren't the best. I'm hoping it can turn around in year 3-4 when McMahon can fully construct a roster the way he wants. I've been a proponent that we need to hire a defensive assistant coach. McMahon is an offensive minded coach, and from everything I've gathered so is Coach Long. We really need a fundamentally sound defensive coach to help our team out.
I'm gonna be foolishly optimistic and say that we are gonna have a really good portal. We had a good portal this past offseason, despite being only 2-16 in conference. With going 9-9 and an NIT berth there shouldn't be much holding back even better players coming here. Year 3 will be the true test for MM. Also hoping Chest and Collins stay.

You are looking for something to be a dick about and call yourself an LSU fan. The fact that you use “McMen” gives you away. You are an entitled little bitch that thinks LSU owes you something. Go cheer for someone else. You and your schtick are not wanted here.

Going 9-9 in the SEC and handling the Cook situation IMHO perfectly after a very rocky and I would even say bad pre-conference start. Showed some resiliency and finally gave me some hope.

You sure about that?
I mean, you could at least throw out that he’s won some games in the NCAA tournament as an option.

It would be very funny if Will Wade went to an SEC school to see how big of a pretzel some LSU fans are put in.

Street ball gives you to the sweet 16. So strong arse offers. Squeaky clean losers get you in the NIT after two years at the helm

Went 9-9 in the SEC in his second year after having no scholarship players to start with. Which just so happens to be the same record as Will Wade’s last SEC record at LSU.

I enjoy the chaos of the underdogs winning.
Gonzaga isn’t who they used to be, but they are still a decent team.

With how many speak of McNeese and Wade on this board you'd think they'd be the favorites.

They are always good but they have a history of underperforming in NCAAT because they don't play a strong in conference schedule. I wouldn't be surprised if McNeese makes the upset, but I wouldn't bet on it.
