What will be your reaction?

I'll piss my pants and after cleaning up I'll begin making hotel reservations for:

Jan 2010 Los Angeles
Jan 2011 Glendale
Jan 2012 New orleans
Jan 2013 Miami

because we will be playing in at least one of those national championship games, possibly two. Talk about hitting a homerun on a hire ... I hate to get too excited and then be let down, but the thought of one of those DCs combined with Orgeron is a grandslam hire by Miles if it indeed happens.

Wishful thinking??

ETA: Even if it is just Walker, I'll still be thrilled. He'd be a rock solid hire stand-alone. I like Chavis too, but moreso combined with Orgeron.

Unless you know something we don't, I just don't see it as a long shot. Chavis + Orgeron doesn't work because Chavis and O have no connection and Chavis wants his own staff.

But Walker and Orgeron certainly have the USC connection so I can definitey see them working together. From what I hear, they're friends to begin with so it kind of "fits" especially with the rumors that O wants to stay in Louisiana. Give him an assistant head coach title, give Walker the DC title which is certainly a step up from UCLA and it just seems to work at least in my mind.

Walker, Orgeron, the Wizard, Miles...

Shep and the '09 class, plus the good apples there now...

Yup. I'd say that 2008 is an aberration if that comes true.

It would be awesome if that's who we got, but I don't know how likely that is.

It probably won't, but I say there's way too much informal talk to assume anything right now.

I still think that there's a good shot at DeWayne Walker, and I'll take Jim Jeffcoat in a heartbeat.

Doubt it. Any person on this board would spill the beans if they knew.

I am not convinced the Coach O part would be a good thing, and would love to be convinced. We are doing fine recruiting as it is. Is his DLine coaching or assistance in gameplanning going to realy be a boost for us? I know he is fiery and a good motivator, but our DLine play has gone down and needs to be coached up IMO.

It'd be hard to get excited about a coordinator who comes from a program where they ranked #6 in the Pac-10 in total defense and has given up 44 TD's and 348 points on the year.

From what I hear, UCLA just really sucks this year. He isn't working with much talent on D this year and the Offense SUCKS which puts more pressure on the D. He's done very well in past years.

Doubtful on the hire, or doubtful on 2 of the next 4 championship games?

Then your idea of "very well" and mine are significantly different.

But, maybe there is a logical explanation for the stats during his tenure. Maybe they've been starting a boatload of freshmen every year, maybe they've been decimated by injuries, maybe Dorrell's staff were just piss poor talent evaluators/recruiters. Maybe the stats are skewed with a bunch of UCLA pick 6's included in there or fumbles returned by opponent defenses for touchdowns.

If he comes, he very well may put together the premier stop unit in college football. I'll believe it when I see it.

maybe...but I doubt it.

Even Belowpar last night said he knows nothing.

Either there is nothing to be known, or this search is being conducted very, very quietly.
