have a sitting POTUS who has trouble completing a sentence and when he does he basically threatens another Head of State about 'seeing Jesus' and the criticism is nothing but crickets. How in heckfire did we get here?

I think we got here by allowing the political class to create and navigate methods which enabled them to be reelected for decades.
Combined that with the deep state which cares not too much about who is in the white house...
Lastly, there seems to be no accountability with the intelligence agencies

Because he tell the truth. He tells it like it is. This generation are weak and too sensitive. Too worried about feelings instead of reality. They don't understand that our country and society are better off based on merit. People today think they are somehow owed something....
