There was a study some years ago. A bunch of wine aficionados, snobs and sommeliers. When blindfolded, they couldn’t tell the difference between a real “good” expensive bottle of wine and screw top Kendal Jackson type crap you get at the grocery store

I don’t drink and haven’t for a long time, but I’ve always told people that expensive wine would be wasted on me. Apparently I’m not the only one.

Crawfish farmers are now trying to pump out crawfish earlier and earlier so they can set the bar higher on the opening price . It’s better than the old tried and true high gas prices excuse.

Bands who sign recording agreements almost always make no money off the first album. They will make a signing bonus, but expenses normally eat up the first album's income.

I always advise bands who sign to spend their bonus money wisely.

Is this at all true? Looking back over the last 40 years, US oil production was flat during the Republican led 80s, declined year over year under both Clinton and W, and starting increasing dramatically under Obama, continuing through Trump (Covid blip notwithstanding), and is currently at all time record highs under Biden.

It seems that neither party correlates to oil and gas production.

Pretty much this.

An anti-fossil fuel Administration, such as this one, can impose more regulations and do things such as limit federal lease sales to discourage drilling and production. However, at least for now, the market still wins out. At $80 per barrel oil, E&Ps are still going to adjust and figure out how to comply with the extra burdens while still making money.

If oil drops to $40/bbl, though, don't expect those companies to keep shelling out capital to keep the current record production levels going.

In college, I worked a couple of years as a waitress. One place was a really nice restaurant. The others weren’t. In the back, it made no difference. NEVER BE RUDE TO THE PEOPLE HANDLING YOUR FOOD. I can’t believe the shite I saw. I was literally the only person who refused to defile the food of rude customers. The other servers made fun of me for it. If you are an arse to your server, I hope you like having your steak wiped on the floor before it’s put on your plate.

I've worked in bars my entire adult life, none of them upscale, and I have never once witnessed someone defiling a customer's food.

This almost never happens.

It’s all the above. You are definitely right in your assessment.

You sure they aren’t doing it again? Catfish price hikes are starting to be as bad as crawfish.

The difference for catfish for me is that I can just go catch my own

That Taco Bell thing is a complete bullshite urban legend that goes back decades lol. Y’all will seriously believe anything.

This isn't inherently gross, but it sure sounds gross. They use "meat hoses" and once I went to one and the sign said no ground meat because "the meat hose is out of order".

I still eat Taco Bell, but I try to forget about the meat hose.

By definition, vodka is odorless, colorless, & tasteless. It's all in your mind.

So it tastes like water and we're imagining the vodka taste?

I'm a drinker and I can tell the difference in plenty of vodkas. I won't say it is hugely dramatic once you get to a certain level of quality, but the nuances and burn can certainly be different depending on how it is made and what it is made with.

That's the same in the egg industry as well. They are all coming from the same place, just the package changes.

Catfish processors were coordinating to fix prices in the 90s. Several plants got fined millions for it on fixing prices for large contracts to Chicago companies.

What was never known is they did it for government contracts too and one guy steered the investigation by the feds toward the fixing on private companies and was able to hide the govt contract fixing. Had they found out about the govt contracts it would have been much worse. Guy is dead now and the biggest offenders (delta pride before they sold, farm fresh, southfresh and southern pride) are no longer in business so doesn’t matter now

I made my own wine in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait for 7 years . I have low expectations other than 14 days till drinkable, 17 days till clear. I do not pay more than 9 bucks a bottle, cause its so much better than my own brew
