We are heading to Louisville next week for a mini-vacation and would love some recommendations for bars and restaurants.

We'll be staying downtown. We have reservations for a Mammoth Cave tour Wednesday morning so if there are any good places nearby for lunch, I'm interested.

Looking to try regional cuisine, like a Hot Brown, soup beans, burgoo. I know the Brown Hotel is the birthplace of the hot brown, but if there is a place that's better, I'd rather go there.

Also, where is the best Mint Julep?

Cannot recommend La Bodeguita enough. Louisville has a large Cuban population and it’s really authentic and delicious Cuban food. Great atmosphere too.

Also, I know Angel’s Envy isn’t some secret distillery, but their tour is really great and they have an awesome bar inside the distillery with creative bourbon cocktails that’s only accessible to those who take the tour.

Went last year for a weekend. Stayed at the Omni. Pretty nice. Went to bar vetti and it was fine. A little too Instagram able for my taste. Le moo had an excellent brunch. Ive heard good things about fat lamb and black rabbit. Jack Fry's is legendary but look at reservations ASAP if you intend on going. I recently popped in to michters looking for a 10 year rye or bourbon. Be aware that they do random releases throughout the day. Sometimes 11 or 1pm. Only thing at open will be spots for bottle your own which I have heard is a cool experience. The bars supposed to be nice but it wasn't open yet when I was there. Angela envy tour was also highly recommended to me by a friend. Not many of the other distilleries in Louisville do regular releases.

What distilleries are you going to? Guided tour or driving yourselves?

Looks like two of my top 3 spots closed during covid (Butchertown grocery, Harvest)

But #3 Pizza Lupo remains. Good little pizza joint

Proof on Main
Jack fry
Butchertown Bakery

Their regional cuisine sucks fwiw. Go for the bourbon. There are several spots near downtown (old forester, angels envy, rabbit hole).
