Personal Trainers/Nutrition Guidance

Just interested in some feedback regarding the use of a personal trainer/nutrition advice. I just turned 56 and have been on TRT therapy for almost six years. I have exercised moderately over the past six years (mainly hiking, Peloton) but have not done consistent weight training. My PSA keeps yoyoing seemingly with every blood test and I am considering stopping and taking a natural approach. Has anyone had success with a trainer who can develop a combination fitness/nutrition program to help me forego the TRT injections? Anyone know a good trainer in Murfreesboro, TN by any chance?

just read barbell prescription by andy baker and do the program. you dont need a special regiment and you dont need to get off the trt. try lowering the dose and split dosing to multiple times per week

Honestly, id only recommend a trainer to someone who needs one or more of the following:
-help with learning lifts
-help with competing if advanced
-extra accountability
There is no reason to pay someone to design a diet as there is a wealth of knowledge on youtube. Ive seen many good nutrition threads on this forum with fantastic info as well.
A good trainer should take and record measurements and keep detailed logs of your workouts that you can take home when you are done working with him.

.85 ml per week. The PSA jumps from 3.2 to 4 and then back again. Last test was 4.1 and the doc stopped the injections until my urologist cleared me. I saw him this morning and did a blood draw for a PSA through his office. I eat pretty clean, no drinking or smoking so the TRT is the only thing that I can figure to be spiking it like that. Although I know PSA generally rises naturally with age.

170 mg/week is too high for your age, you should be like 100mg or 0.5 ml split into two doses, 0.25 each
You don’t need a special workout though.
Search starting strength gym in your area, learn the lifts or search the cpps trainer database if there are any in your area(not all are listed cause they are not taking clients)
Maybe list what area you live and someone will have recommendations, always try a good CrossFit gym to learn the lifts

I live in Lebanon and use a personal trainer in Mount Juliet. He has a gym in his garage with everything you need as far as free weights. I cuss him everytime I’m there and then tell him thanks and see you tomorrow. I’m happy to share his contact info with you.
As for nutrition, I have struggled with this constantly. I need someone to write me a plan that not only tells me my macros, but also what to eat to fill those macros. I can never seem to balance it out. I just started with a nutritionist that works out of Elite/MPower in Green Hills. She has a phd in nutrition and has been very helpful so far. Again, I’m happy to share contact info.

If you go to a big box gym, most trainers will just give you the same cookie cutter program they give everyone else.
If the first words out of the trainer's mouth aren't "what are your goals," find another trainer.
