The SEC and Big 10 should split from the rest of the conferences and have their own championship. Make it an invitational where they invite only the best teams to play. There is no place for a group of 5 team in a real playoff system. They will never make a run and win it all. This isn't basketball with Cinderella stories.

Really bummed what’s becoming of college football.
I’m sure the ratings will be ginormous and the product will be top shelf talent wise but ultimately when fans of the top two dogs (SEC and B1G) are largely “rooting for the laundry” as players come and go and teams are just a lower level of professional ball clubs affiliated with universities, it’s probably just not going to feel quite the same.
Younger generations really won’t know any different in the future so no big deal ….but I’m at least glad I had a chance to enjoy the sport for a lot of years when it was still regionally based “college football” in a truer sense.

Notre Dame doesn’t have to join a conference, They are a 1 team conference and there is nothing the SEC or BIG can do about it.
Hate to break it to you, bud, but it’s almost assured that ND joins the Big Ten when the ACC falls apart. There’s loads of smoke about it right now. They know that once the game is down to just two relevant conferences they no longer have leverage.

Minor sports are littered with solid schools not in the Big 10 or SEC.
Minor sports are entirely subsidized by football dollars. Most would not exist without it.

An automatic bye for a conference is ridiculous. The Big Ten and the SEC will have that most seasons regardless.
The SEC and the B1G are the power brokers of college football. They own the big stick. In most situations, I could sympathize with the downtrodden, but unless these superconferences start governing the sport this thing is doomed. We are seeing the beginning of the end as we know it and thank goodness.
NIL and the magic portal are the real enemy, but that too will change as soon as the NCAA is over and out.

That’s under the assumption that Notre Dame would NEVER join the SEC
