You schedule a baseball game vs LSU and didn’t occur to you that it might be a bigger than normal crowd? No plan for traffic or parking? Embarrassing

They should know how to handle things at peak times then.

It amazes me after 12 years living in Houston. They still don’t know how to plan and execute a big event. It’s always a clusterfrick. No matter what part of town the event is held.

As an LSU fan who sat in a parking lot not moving for three hours after an LSU football game against Southern, I cannot complain over other universities’ handling of parking and traffic…ever.

Was this really beyond normal med center traffic?

It’s not Rice’s fault. City of Houston is fixing drainage pipes on Main Street and University basically right next to the stadium and it has been a cluster for several weeks now.

Welcome to the intelligent planning for Houston road and sewage work.

Yeah, they have tons of parking by the football stadium. Must be the city govt.

That’s 80-90K people there were maybe 2500 at the baseball game. I’ve left LSU games in far less than 3 hours

It was still a cluster on the campus well past Main and University. They really needed cops directing traffic at the light at University and Stockton, that was a nightmare, cars were blocking the intersection and cutting off others. And the Parking lots were also a cluster none of that has nothing to do with construction. Pretty inexcusable to be that unprepared I’m sure they sold way more tickets than a typical Rice home mid week game.

Was something up with the Stadium Road exit?

Sounds like a combination of the Ricers not being prepared and folks not availing themselves of the numerous other ways to exit the campus.

Are you serious? As a first time attendee I could maybe understand this, but I can go to a sold out Astros or Texans game and be on the interstate within minutes of getting in my car. NRG can be a twenty minute pain depending on which lot you are in, but its pretty damn easy to avoid the one (Red) lot furthest from the 610 entrance ramp.

I have no idea what went on last night at Rice, but I would assume the fact it is in the middle of a residential area and 99% of the people parked in a lot with 1-2 exits onto a two lane road was the issue.

All due respect, LSU fans (of all people) have absolutely ZERO room to talk about traffic.. Every LSu event is a shat show….Baton Rouge traffic is the worst in the state (by far) & you complain about Rice University traffic near the TMC?!?? ! lol….wow! I forgot, every school you play should shut down that part of town for LSU fans.

Now do the rodeo. It’s ridiculous Houston hasn’t figured it out yet.
