Religion is a device used by the powers that be in this world to divide and conquer the populace. Nothing more. The Roman Catholic papacy is one of the most evil institutions on the planet. If you can’t see that then you can’t be reasoned with.

Suicide being deemed a Hell-worthy trespass is only from a Papal Bull. Peoples lives were so shitty in the 500-600's AD that people began forming suicide bands of hundreds of people. If the Church was ever going to become a world power, they couldn't have their most devout cashing in on the promise of everlasting life in paradise early, before they could tithe to the church for 30 or 40 years first.

Unfortunately, Christianity has fit this definition in the past. People have used it for gain, thus defying the very nature of the faith taught by Christ.
But, you no longer have to worry about that. Right now you have new religions with no purpose other than control, and with no actual redeeming value associated with them.
