The guy was not exactly a productive member of society but we still can’t have people starve to death in county jail.

What do you do with a psychotic inmate who refuses to eat? Do you restrain them and hook them up to TPN?

I can definitely tell you what NOT to do. Don't put him in solitary confinement and withhold medical attention.

Bingo!

4chubbies sure makes a lot of assumptions for someone who bitches about others making assumptions. Also, once again she offers zero solutions.

Just what does one do with a threatening mental case that may refuse meds and/or food (may have been too full from being nuts enough to eat his own crap)? Incarceration may indeed be the most humane way but it has limitations obviously.

1. The fact that he's psychotic is why he shouldn't be an inmate at all. At least not in a prison or jail.

2. Probably. What is the standard of care for a facility that would actually be qualified to deal with this guy? It probably looks a lot like what you described.
