Best advice I got was that it will take a year or 2 for you to recover emotionally, and there’s nothing you can do to rush it. Sure enough, after a year and a half I started feeling great and let go of the past.
In the meantime, get in better shape physically and become a better father, even if you’re already a good one. Spend the next couple of years taking your son to do as many firsts as you can. You will never get this time back with your son, put all of your effort and energy into him and soak it all in. Lord knows your whore of an ex won’t be bothered to do fun stuff with the kid, she’ll be too busy on the cock carousel.
