Suburban owners- do you like it?

Looking at full sized SUV's right now and thinking of going with a Suburban. The storage space looks impressive. I've never had a Chevy though. We usually stick to Honda/Toyota but neither have a comparable ride/storage space. We have 3 kids who are about to enter their teen years.

I have had one since 2006. It has almost 200k in miles. I have put about $8,000 in it for struts, brakes and various repairs outside of tires and oil changes.
The paint has deteriorated and needs to be redone.
I have a hard time letting it go. We raised three kids in that truck and traveled across the country in it.
Best choice I ever made.

Yukon XL
It’s been a beast but when we hit 125k miles, things started to fail spectacularly……like the tranny. We actually had just enough extended warranty to capture replacement.
Nothing beats it for size/function.

You cannot load up the Lexus while using a fully functioning 3rd row……while effectively towing a boat.

If you want extreme comfort, ride and style with very sketchy reliability in an over priced vehicle, then it is great. If you want to ride hundreds of thousands of trouble free miles and hold its resale vale, look at the sequoia 2022 or earlier.

I have had several Suburbans and they are great. I’ve not had any real problems with any of them. The last one went 225k miles before any major issues.
I’ve moved to truck because I don’t need as much kid room but still think about going back.

I like the look of the new ones but zero storage, a Tahoe is more of a comparison fo that.

Wagoneer L. Not the Grand. My wife drives a Wagoneer. Best seats I have ever sat in. We have the 5.7 with the 8 speed ZF. The rear seats are comfortable and roomy enough for adults to travel. When the kids are old enough that we can downsize, it will probably be the GX but until then the Wagoneer beats the. Chevy and Ford by bit. We drove them all.

The cargo area is nice but the 3rd row is very small and uncomfortable. I have 3 kids as well and looked into it. Went with the Expedition Max instead and found that it has more cargo space and more 3rd row leg room.

We have an XL and like it a lot. I've driven an Expedition Max but we really didn't look at anything else.
The whole "driving a bus" thing goes away after a week or two unless you're in a tight confines regularly. That said, having all the tech (360 cam, etc.) is definitely a good idea IMO.

I think I would have recommended this if they still had the 5.7. They're all the I6 turbo now.

Wife (no pics) had a 2000 Suburban from new to 2009, 180k miles and no issues with it.
A great people hauler and in addition it was wonderful post-K too for moving things and trailering.
I know technology & powertrain-wise that model is ancient history but the logistics of owning a Suburban are still the same.
One of my kids has a ‘22 Yukon XL and hasn’t had any issues with it. They don’t keep cars more than 3-4 years for fear of all the gremlins showing up in today’s complex vehicles

I had one when SUV meant sport utility vehicle and not oversized luxury car. It was burnt orange and looked like I worked for the highway department and it maneuvered like a supertanker, but it hauled all my hunting shite around. I slept in the back of it on occasion. I put 140,000 miles on it before the timing chain broke and the mechanic told me it would cost more to fix than the blue book value.

The only people I see driving suburbans are moms. Blonde, trophy wife, moms. Not even joking. It's the new family mini van for woman who wouldn't be caught dead driving a mini van.

We have driven the heck out of our 2015 suburban @ ~150K miles. Had to put in a new transmission and a few other items, but it still rides and drives well. Even with some sizable maintenance dollars it is cheaper than a like replacement.

We have one. 115k miles and no problems so far but as the rest stated we are expecting transmission problems. Has been a good truck and is the ultimate road trip machine. Would buy another no doubt.

More of an Expedition guy but I hear the Suburbans are comfy when waiting for the tow truck.
