So I work in Gonzales. It's a small town in Louisiana that I'm pretty sure no one outside Louisiana knows. The vast variety of places to eat is amazing. We have:

Chinese (buffet and takeout)
Japanese (Hibachi and sushi)
Mexican & TexMex
Greek/Lebanese
Seafood
Soul food
Creole/Cajun

Plus you have pizza places, sports bars home style, grocery stores that have lunches that are pretty good, and numerous other places to hit up for food.

I spent a week in Oklahoma for work, it was outside OKC in one of the suburbs. They had Mexican, TexMex, sports bars, or chain restaurants. Everyone recommended the same 4 places. If I wanted any real variety I was going to have to drive a bit. I feel that isn't the case for Louisiana.

OKC food sucks. You should have driven to El Reno. Some of the best diners and hidden gems in the US, like Sid's Diner.
