He’s on the ground for an eternity in game speed time. Not only that, but the dive was goofy & he tried to brace himself, costly more time.
At the speed he was running, this would have been 3-4 steps & a nice running play. The best part of this play was the jump & amount of ground he covered. It was a tremendous play in that regard.
Most dives that occur in the OF rarely have to occur, as they cost the fielder time to close on the ball. The most justifiable dive is to get on plane with the ball, not to reach the ball. You optimally reach balls by staying on your feet.

The fact you have to make this post means you were being negative about his catch. Youre just a miserable person trying to make others miserable. Something is seriously wrong with you.

Reaching the ball isn’t the same as catching the ball. You have to reach the ball and get your glove to where the ball is and in this case it’s nearly hitting the ground.
