Looking into fishing, etc. trip to Alaska this summer. All-inclusive versus lodge/hotel w/ separate charter? Location? Recommendations?

Sometimes I come on this site and see something I want to do I never thought of. Damn fishing in Alaska sounds like it would be awesome. Fresh high end salmon.

I've been up to Alaska to fish with this outfit several times. Not cheap, but top notch experience.

Flew into Anchorage, had a rental car and drove to Kenai peninsula. Did 10 days at various airbnbs with day charter fishing trips. Caught fresh salmon and cooked. It was an amazing trip. Airbnbs were very nice in that area but there are a lot of 1 bedrooms or sleeps 14 lodge types. You can also have fish processed, frozen, and sent home.

I have been fishing the Kenai Peninsula for 30 years missing only two summers in that timeframe. For the last 15 years I have been staying at Tower Rock Lodge in Kenai. They are an Orvis endorsed all inclusive lodge on the Kenai River. You can Halibut fish in Homer, fish for Salmon in the Kenai and Kasilof Rivers, go on a fly out to Crescent Lake and see bears. The meals are great, all inclusive including the wine. You can fly to Anchorage, rent a car and make the three hour drive or fly from Anchorage to Kenai and get picked up at the airport. When you leave you will pick your fish up at the processor, vacuum sealed and frozen ready to be shipped back as your 2nd luggage bag. Tower Rock caters to all fishermen from beginners to expert fly fishermen. They supply all fishing gear, rain gear, etc.
If anyone has any questions I will try to answer them on this thread.

I've been fishing several times in Homer. Lots of lodging, good restaurants and plenty of views. I stayed at my Uncle's cabin on Peterson Bay, which is right next to Halibut Cove (another nice spot to visit).

Alaska sportsman’s Lodge: LINK /

They pick you up at Anchorage, fly you to lake Iliamna, then boat downriver to the lodge.

Float planes almost every day to various types of fishing. Food is incredible. But like someone else said, $$$$.

My uncle (RIP) used to fish the salmon run every year after he retired out to Seattle. He loved it. It’s one thing I wish I’d done with him.
