Contemplating marine JAG program.
What’s the caseload like? Do you get to choose your subject matter? How did you feel overall about the experience?

I have seen the film "A Few Good Men" many times.
What questions may I answer for you?

I was intrigued until I saw their salaries.

I don’t think you go JAG for the salary.

Did you do ROTC in high school or college?
Not my words but: The caseload can vary depending on factors like deployment status and location, but generally includes a mix of criminal law, administrative law, and military justice cases. While you may have some input on your subject matter preferences, assignments are often based on the needs of the Marine Corps. Overall, many JAG officers find the experience fulfilling due to the unique blend of legal practice and military service. It’s important to research and speak with current or former JAG officers to get a better understanding of what to expect and if it aligns with your career goals.

You won't be solving murder mysteries and catching spies with a sidekick who looks good in a bikini. You'll be outprocessing lots and lots of E4s who pissed hot on a drug test.

If I were you, I’d figure what you want out of it. I had a prof that was JAG. He was top notch. From what I gathered, JAG def had a benefit to his career. I think folks liked that whole military background.
Find a JAG or former and talk to them.

Or prosecuting 2 privates that steal a car in Georgia (less than a week before they ETS'd), drive to Vegas, buy coke, and steal from hookers. For some reason, they required 24 hour observation, and I got stuck with multiple shifts staring at those idiots.
You will get a lot of great stories out of it, downside, you'll have crayon lips.

Main question is:
Can you handle the truth?

Start by capitalizing Marine, boot.

I'm JAG in the army reserves. If you want to go JAG, go air force. Way better QOL

This. If you want to be a Marine, and being a JAG also sounds cool, then consider it. If you just want to be a military lawyer and randomly picked "Marines" out of a hat, then go away, we don't want you.

Go AF, you actually will have a life and be treated like a human (but and treat others that way).

I want to do my 4 years, challenge myself mentally and physically, then move back home and open up my own shop. I am hopeful that the workload will be broad enough to cover all the aspects of law I might see in private practice, but not so voluminous that all I do is work.
