That’s funny I didn’t know they were playing flower mound, Texas

I thought it was a school in Louisiana I didn’t know about. I went to Barbe and live in DFW and DFW has some of the best baseball talent in the country

I often wonder how Barbe would do in some of these districts with Southlake, Colleyville Heritage, Flower Mound, etc

They are all littered with former Texas Rangers and MLB players that live in the area

yea it was Flower mound texas and concordia out of texas today and then IMG out of florida later this month and live oak is no slouch. Considered one of the 5-6 teams expected to compete for trip to the state tournament in sulphur.

Barbe has just played 9 innings, then had to come back 20 min later and face that fricking juggernaut. not to mention it was an emotional rollercoaster that ended in a walk off then had to sit and let adrenaline come back down.

barbe does lack a true #1 overwhelming dominant starter now that Victorian is gone but they have 3 kids that would be considered the number 1 option at 99% of schools that are not nationally ranked.

Diego Corrales is a D1 mid major guy, JD Alexander is #1 soph in the state running it up to 87 last night and then Lawton Littleton the freshman hit 86 on monday.

now barbe has to face concordia lutheran tonight...Concordia does have DH playing Live Oak first and opelousas Catholic tomorrow

if barbe can make it through Pre-district with 2 losses or less....look out come playoff time because they will be rolling

also understand Barbe is without Victorian who was their best pitcher and then Courville who is their best player is out with injury. Courville is best catcher in the state and has been committed to A&M since his freshman year. With him out, you have to shuffle the ULL committ Kasen bellard back there or bring in the #5 soph in the state in Myles Ledoux and that shuffles whole infield and outfield all over the place. Makes it hard.

as far as scores

Gotta hand it to you, for not being a Barbe guy, 3 sons who don't go there and a busy life/schedule, not being on staff there, you sure do have a keen interest about them and know more than most parents with a son playing.

well i have my youngest 2 that prolly will and those two love to go watch the games. unlike the other kids, they actually sit and watch. i dont get to go to many, that will be last ones for a while. but ill be at the big ones during district. unfortunately we are so busy i just dont get to go to many, same with McNeese. Have season tickets to all sports and seems only ones i really get to go to is mens Basketball

But despite my oldest being into other sports, we are a baseball family overall. He loves goign to the games, hell even his brothers games to watch

Well all the data says it is. The earlier kids start training the healthier they tend to be as adults is what the data shows. Also they tend to have less injuries in sports

The rise in arm injuries may be directly proportional to kids no longer riding bikes anywhere or everywhere like we did. Their legs are nearly as strong as in years past.

exactly which is why they should be strength training

also related to lack of grip and pulling strength as documented in the studies that show kids are much weaker than previous generations.

which is another reason they should be lifting

many on here are goign to say...play other sports, play outside etc

and thats fine...but that 2-3 hours a week you strength train, isnt stopping you from plyaing other sports or playing with friends outside

but it is making your body much more prepared to take the damage sports cause

people have no problem letting they 8 year old play tackle football or soccer or even basketball where they are routinely exposed to forces multiple times their bodyweight...but suggest they lift and be exposed to forces much less than bodyweight and people lose their mind....mainly because they are uneducated and continue to believe myths that have been disproven for deacades

People will say...do pushups...pushups use 62% roughly of bodyweight... suggest a 100 lbs kid bench 15lbs dbs instead and people freak.

even the pediatric society recommends weight training for kids now.

I hear you. And as I have said, as a parent you do what you think is best, we will all have differing opinions.

I have extensive experience with all of this, both as an athlete, parent, and my education. My concern is that I have met VERY few 1st graders that are interested in "training". I've been around many professional athletes, and I can recall exactly ZERO of them who had personal trainers before high school. But I can say that almost 100% of them were multiple sport athletes. They were also blessed with elite talent by God, and yes as they matured they honed those skills with hard work. They also had a passion for what they did, and it was THEM who went to their parents asking for more work, help, etc. Perhaps I live in a different world now, but I have yet to meet a 1st grader who desires this lifestyle at that age. Pushing them too hard at that age has consequences, some of which might not show up until later in life. All of them need physical activity for sure, few of them are truly emotionally ready for that level of training.

My sons had 95+ mph arm strength. Never had arm issues. They played baseball when it was baseball season, and other sports when they were in season. No trainers, just common sense arm care, good mechanics, monitor workload. pitch counts, etc.

There is a time to step on the gas, plenty of time later on as they approach and enter high school. I am a big believer in the weight room and training. I live it. I think I would have hated my parents had they made me do all of that at 7 years old. But hey,if your kid really enjoys it, and you monitor/supervise the workload, technique, etc. have at it. I am not one to judge.

i do strength coaching as a side thing but my kids only train with me in the garage, they beg to train and set their own alarms to get up early to go in there before school to do pushups and chins ups.

i dunno if other kids like it or not but i will say imo, if you cant do a chin up or hold an iso lunge...should not be able to play baseball

Na 1 triple and another single after I left. Went 3-4 in FM game.

4-6, two triples, 2 singles, 2 walks on the day in first starts against varsity against great competition…not too shabby lol.

Not to mention his play in center for outstanding
