300BO subsonic reloading recipe

I load the Hornady 190gr Sub-X using CFE BLK. I shoot them in my SBR's (8") and a CVA Scout (16").

For the SBR's I load 12.3gr and average 1050fps at the muzzle. I started at 12.3gr for the CVA Scout as well but I was getting over 1100fps. I'm down to 11.9gr and they are still right at 1100fps. My next load will be around 11.7gr.

I will say the loads shoot great in all three guns as well.

You should be able to start around 11 grains of powder on that. The recipe I see on their webpage is for 190gr bullet and the max load is 12.3gr of power. The 194gr should be able to start lower. maybe even 10.5 gr of powder

I shoot 10gr of H4198 for nosler 220gr custom competition rounds

It will tell you velocity, where is the accuracy node, loading consistency, powder/primer variables, and if you have a fast or slow barrel. ALL barrels are not created equally. I plan on buying one. I used to reload a good bit. About to start back. I have everything I need but powder and primers. Midway has both in stock. Should be up and running in a month or so.

I bought the Lehigh bullets before they doubled in price. They are 1.20 each just for the bullets now.

I'll be following this thread. I also have a 300 Blackout, but have only shot it supersonic. I've just started working up a subsonic load using 220 gr Hornady RN bullets and Shooter's World SBR-Socom. Although I have CFE BLK (I use it in my 20 VarTarg, 221 Fireball and supersonic 300 BO) I'm instead using Socom. I read a number of mixed results w/ CFE BLK where folks mildly liked it or really disliked it with nothing in between. My load development is in very early stages. Accuracy has been disappointing. In addition, the subsonic loads drop a LOT at 100 yds (16") compared to the supersonic loads.

That seems to be a very sought after recipe lately. I've been asked that one more than I once among irl friends lately.

Two powders ... CFE BLK and 1680. Unless you're a Vitavouri fan as am I. As good as VV is, out of a 16" barrel, CFE BLK (cleaner) and 1680 (dirtier) are both the way to go if you want reliable cycling.

9.5" barrel, 1:5 twist, you can't beat VV N120.
