For border crossings and how that is supposed to be good?

Internal polling on trump vs newsome.

Even that has loopholes, and they won't enforce it anyway.

It’s enough to overflow your local high school in a day -
Enough to replace the entire population of Eagle Pass in a week -
Enough to over fill any SEC stadium in a month -
And enough to sway an election in a year.

The entire Congress of the United States needs to be charged with treason as well as the President and his Cabinet.
And then we start to over brand new.
They are all against us.

Think tanks projecting how many poor people we need to import to keep wages down and the economy running.
They do the work of government, along with NGOs.

OK. Under the new proposed legislation (which is not part of current law), if 5,000 in a single day appear at border crossings or in encounters at locations other than border crossings, that triggers a complete shutdown of the border.
Such a shut down trigger does not currently exist in US law. Most days we see significantly more than 5,000 people.
In the bipartisan legislation, they considered a 5,000 trigger to be necessary to signal a crisis that would justify the complete shutdown of the US border.
But now republicans don't want any shutdown. There is no shutdown trigger in US law now.

Why is there a trigger number at all? Why can’t all illegal crossings be stopped without a trigger of “encounters”?
Posted on 2/13/24 at 9:46 am to Jax-Tiger
Because "they" need these illegals to accomplish a goal. Otherwise, they wouldn't have a billion dollar network setup all the way through south america to get them here. There is an end game and it's not good.

The Repblican from Oklahoma said that the 5000 is a big misunderstanding
he says 5000 processed each day, which he says "doesn't mean they get to walk into America, many will be turned away"
No one believe this
because all these people are not coming through ports of entry...
many aren't getting caught...
it's a freaking disaster
you tell the world, turn the frick around
you're not getting in
we will start shooting people if necessary
Turn the frick around!

Yet again, another reason why nobody trusts you. It's not a COMPLETE SHUTDOWN. That is bullshite. The shutdown applied only to people crossing BETWEEN legal check points. Even then, some people are still allowed to come in between legal checkpoints. The normal legal checkpoints stay in business.
In addition, this bill does nothing about the people who cross and aren't taken into custody. We don't know how many illegal aliens cross the border unencountered. We have a rough count of "gotaways". But a lot of people cross the border completely unknown to us, and we pretend like they don't exist. The human/drug trafficking would occur at border crossings where there are no patrols.
Building a wall with sensors would be a GREAT start.

The problem with setting the number at 5,000 is the cartel coyotes will bring them to the border at a number just under the threshold.
5,000 “closes the border”.
4,999 doesn’t.
The number doesn’t need to be 5,000, 10,000, or 250.
It needs to be zero

You'd be well-served to stop with the bullshite. Your politics are different than most here so you're easily discounted when you type out something retarded like, "Republicans don't want any shutdown" of the border.
The problem with your position is that there doesn't need to be any sort of trigger to shut the border down. We can simply just shut it down.
An aside - am I correct in remembering your participation in a thread a couple years ago where you acknowledged that illegals were an economic catastrophe for the American underclass?

You remember correctly. The unregulated flow of migrant labor is a direct and significant harm to Americans, particularly in the manual trades. The flow of migrant labor must be restricted as a necessarily component of our labor law.
One of the worst features of the present law is that anyone who applies for asylum is granted work privileges during the pendency of their asylum proceedings. The proceedings take years and there are no limits on this game. The migrants applying for asylum, under current US law, are allowed free entry and work permit without quota or cap. And these migrants are lawfully present under present US law.
The law absolutely needs to be changed. Two aspects of the proposed law this year included more hearing officers to speed the asylum hearings (absolutely necessary), and limits on the numbers entering.
Under present US law, these asylum seekers are all lawfully present in the US, working lawfully, and there is no limit on the numbers. US law must change to close this down.

Am I reading that correctly? Only people from Mexico or Canada will be counted, and we're still going to allow 5000 in?
Essentially that means everybody gets through and only a handful of people get counted so they can make it seem like the border is secure when it will be as wide open as it ever was.
I swear, if all of Congress suddenly dropped dead, I wouldn't shed a tear, I wouldn't think twice, and I will likely breathe a sigh of relief. They obviously don't give a warm shite about any of us, so why should we care about them?

I agree and think the magnitude of harm would shock those that are harmed. This should be talked about more and open border pols should be crucified for it.

Have you noticed that regardless of law, EO, budget, etc., the unabated flow of illegals continues? There's an ebb/flow, and temporary changes but for decades now, we are seeing more and more illegals, even on a per capita US population basis.
We don't need new laws. If passed, this legislation would do all sorts of counterproductive things, but over time would not stem the overwhelming tide of illegals.
We simply need to close the border and require every single person looking to enter the country from the south, do it at a border crossing.
