This team battles and doesn’t quit!
They will get to 8-9 wins this year in league play compared to 2 last year
LSU will be a tourney team next year
This guy can coach hoops and we will be fine when we get more horses
Don’t want to hear about transfer portal and NIL……yeah our football program and baseball program do that…just like Kansas, Arizona and UConn don’t in those sports

I don’t hate him I hope he succeeds but damn why did we have to get rid of a proven coach that was doing things never done here before

This year team is built out of the Portal? Why wouldn't you want to hear about it?
We'll have to do the same thing next year. And the year after that. And after that.

You’ll get downvotes from the usual culprits but you’re absolutely right.

Here we go. Praising mcloser for not losing by 20 or more. “The had a lot of fight in them” “They never gave up” that’s what the program has come to. Not getting beat too bad and “playing hard.” Loser mentality.

It must be near impossible to win the SEC title in year two of a coaching rebuild at LSU. Would take a heck of a coach to accomplish that.

Unreal. We shouldn’t be this fricking bad
Pearl took 5 years at auburn but he didn’t have the portal.
What exactly do you have to say about musselman, Lamont, oats, and beard? Basically half our conference with similar tims.

No. They won't be. At all.

Nobody hates McMahon he’s just not good

Disappointing coaching and execution from start to finish. Also didn't see much toughness or intensity by the Tigers. When you're short handed, need to play with a sense of urgency, smarts and aggression to pull the upset. Not sure anyone can honestly believe we looked like a sound basketball team tonight. Several guys capable of contributing got stuck on the bench too.

Success will be when we play .500 ball?
My how the bar has been lowered.
There was a time when, Johnny Jones.
Then there was a time when making the tourney was expected every year, and is was accomplished. But then that wasn't enough.
Now approaching .500 is quite an accomplishment.

Yes, I totally agree. While I'm not happy with losing, I'm very excited with the progress m seeing. I see Mcmahon as a coach who has a team playing hard, disciplined, team basketball. If you don't see that, then you're just looking for a reason to put McMahon down. He was put behind the eight ball from the beginning and is making something good out of it. But it's just beginning, Hang around, you may be surprised.

It’s improvement from last season. No question. LSU is at least beating the bad SEC teams and competing with the average SEC teams. They don’t belong on the same court with the good SEC teams. And while we can (and should) praise them for never quitting, the game tonight was never in doubt. Just like vs Auburn and Alabama.
So the improvement is akin to Sharon Weston-Broome’s second year “improvement” in crime. Yes, year 2 wasn’t a record year for murders. But there were still a ton of murders…which isn’t good. Is that “improvement” really that impressive?
The question is improvement to what end? Better than being terrible? Is that the goal?
The reality is in this era of college basketball is improvement isn’t linear because there is so much roster turnover from year to year. Just look at the SEC. Missouri was great last year. Now they are terrible. South Carolina was battling LSU for the worst team in the league last season. Now they are battling for the SEC title. And those statues could literally flip again next season. So while improvement this year is at least something. It’s no guarantee next year it will continue because LSU (like most teams) will have a significantly different roster.
Fair or not, McMahon (and most othe HC’s) have to show they can put together a (largely) new roster, Get it to gel and perform quickly to maximize success, then put together a largely different roster the next season and do it again. Thus far, there isn’t a lot to look at to make you think he can.

If the argument is that we should not have fired Wade, can’t say I disagree. But hating McMahon because you are mad at firing Wade is pointless. It’s ok to be pissed about firing Wade and also seeing that McMahon is actually a good basketball coach that has things going in a pretty good direction. But McMahon just isn’t as fun and he doesn’t have to be.
