I’d imagine it is Will Wades goal to coach at his Alma Mater at Clemson.
Perhaps. But I get the sense he wants to be at a program that can be a bigger basketball brand than Clemson. One of the very first things he said when he took the LSU job was that he didn't see any reason it couldn't be like Florida...a "football school" with significant resources to become a basketball powerhouse. I don't know if he sees Clemson in that light. Particularly with the ACC getting left behind to some degree with the huge medial deals singed by the SEC and Big 10. He was there with Oliver Purnell...who voluntarily left for DePaul after a NCAAT appearance. Sometimes when you have been inside the program you know it's NOT what you are looking for.
Oklahoma St is a program that might be realistic. Ohio St has the potential to be a big time championship contender. It's just a matter of if they want a guy like Wade. Or do they think they can go higher?

In one of the new neighborhoods around the port.

It’s amazing how McNeese has recovers from the hurricanes. The athletic infrastructure is all top notch. Passing by this weekend with the football field getting remodeled it’s all looking good.

West virgina has been a top 30-40 program this century. I think that’s a job he’d listen to if open
Bingo. Pretty much a done deal already

Took quite some time to get the press box rebuilt tbh. Thought that should have been done quicker.
I haven’t been to a game at the Legacy Center yet, but plan to soon.

Get in there! One of the best arenas I've been to. Great atmosphere.
I think the deal between Wade and McNeese is synergistic. Everyone I know around here is realistic about things and appreciate him being here doing what he does.

The day he leaves there will be a celebration for him by the McNeese fans. Just because of what he’s done for the area. He’ll always be a legend around here.

Absolutely. He turned what was essentially a dead program into one that has had multiple sellouts and will set the school record for wins in his first year. Even if he left after this year (which I don’t think he will) it would be worth celebrating.
An interesting angle which was mentioned in the paper today is that there are a lot of pissed off ADs in the Southland right now after seeing what McNeese is willing to pay a coach. It’s setting a bar that I don’t think they are comfortable with. Not that McNeese would pay that for a run of the mill coach but it’s going to have some successful coaches at other schools putting their hands out wanting more.

The athletic infrastructure is all top notch.
While nothing luxurious about the stands, the baseball field itself looks to be in excellent shape. Really nice looking field.
The new football box stands are looking to a big improvement over that three-story oddity that made the old stadium feel somewhat lopsided.
And the Legacy Center is the right-sized arena compared to the Civic Center and Coliseum, which kind of swallowed up the court and had no atmosphere at all.
With a new field house on the way, the entire complex is turning into a first-class athletic park.
Good for the Pokes.

McNeese found a way to do it after 2 hurricanes. The other ADs can shut up it’s 2024 if you want to be relevant pay up if you don’t sit on the sideline and shut up.

Oh I agree I just think it’s funny that Heath gets to be the bad guy again so soon after using their leverage to get the conference tournaments here which I know upset a lot of them as well.

McNeese and SELA baseball and McNeese softball would be an attractive add for someone like the Sun Belt. They might be semi-competitive in basketball and the other minor sports would be lagniappe.
Sun belt isn't picking up schools because of softball. If they really want to move up they can gamble and go to c-usa while losing fistfulls of money like Sam Houston.
There's also a 5 million dollar move up cost now which I'm sure no one will want to pay. Lamar tried the WAC and lasted one year before figuring out that the travel was a nightmare

I didn’t make very many games while I was in college. A few that year that we made the NIT and hosted Boston College because they didn’t bother to bid to host because they thought they were in the tournament.
