Supermarkets need to pull out of bad cities where they lose money from theft . Then tell Biden and the democrats they can buy the store ready to go and sell groceries cheaper if they want . Our groceries would be cheaper if we had less theft , lower taxes and stop paying people to stay home driving up the labor cost . If we split the country in half the product in the republican half would be half the price of the liberals.

Eggs have been fluctuating with the market. They were actually pretty cheap up until Christmas. There is probably a greedflation aspect in some stuff like soft drins etc but the run up in prices of beef and chicken has more to do with issues like drought and Avian flu.

They’ll be compelled to lower prices, then layoff workers and quit carrying low margin items. And close low performing stores…
All of that will generate more outrage.

Only 16%? It seems like a hell of a lot more than that
Much higher than 16% when all grocery items are included as part of the food inflation number.
In the KC area a half gallon of milk pre covid was around $2 and eggs were frequently around $2/dozen and on sale at $.99/, now a half gallon of milk is $3 and eggs are around $3.50/dozen, on sale around $3/dozen.
