Anyone rec a decent one? I have a 800 SF camp 18k unit will cool but the heat side is only good for 12K. That drops the heating down to 500 SF
Not wanting a split air.

Dude, you're screwing up. F a window unit. Mini splits cost are comparable, they are more efficient, significantly quieter, easy to install. The list goes on and on and on and on.
Don't get a window unit man.

Frigidaire makes an 18k cooling 16k heat FHWE182WB2. It pulls 4800 watts while heating
If you're in for spending triple that, the freidrich kuhl can go up to 21k btu, with a heat pump KHL24A35A. But with electric heat 16-17k btu is about your cap with window bangers.

Was told by a builder and an HVAC guy that they leak. Was going to but changed my mind.
Edit. Two different guys FWIW

Coolant or condensate? They aren't any more likely to leak coolant than any other HVAC setup. As for condensate as long as you follow the directions setting up the indoor portion and the condensate line there should be no issues.
I have one running in my shop for the last 11 years with no issues, I don't know how many people I know that have put them in shops and I have heard zero complaints except the few people that tried to get away with using precharged systems and didn't pay a tech to make sure the system wasn't under or overcharged.

MrCool DIY minisplit heat pumps for under $2k, 18k btu - 24k btu. No idea why you'd want a window unit with the options available these days.

I wouldn't use that builder or HVAC guy.

You can buy window units for under $500 and have them installed in under 30 mins.
Get some portable heaters and move on with life OP. You need heat in the south like 10 days a year, those portable oil heaters you can buy for like $60 will heat a room very comfortably and easily. 2 of those plus your window unit and you are good to go.
Nothing at all wrong with a mini split and on a new build absolutely go that route, but for a camp with a window unit I’d get portable heaters and move on.

we hung and plumbed gas (propane) lights in our 20x70 camp and they will flat run you outside when they get cranking
Most times we just use a 2 burner heater that sits on a 15 lb bottle. Electric heat in a small camp is completely unnecessary
