I grew up in Columbus. This name change has been discussed for years. The bottom line is they have no student base. The only good program they have is the Speech Pathology program. They need to sell the land to Miss. State and be done with it. The MUW is dead.
I grew up there too and my mom graduated from there back in the 80’s. They should have sold the land to Mississippi State years ago. The campus is decent but in a terrible part of town

Yeah it’s so close to Starkville there really is no point. The university is dead. But if they are wanting to give it the old college try, changing the name would be a good place to start

My sister graduated from there in ‘86. She was there her junior and senior year on a softball scholarship, then returned there in ‘90 as an athletic trainer working with the basketball and softball programs. I think she left from there in ‘95 or ‘96. I haven’t visited there since.
Those who lived there refresh my memory…didn’t a tornado hit campus sometime in the early 2000’s? If memory serves, the gym was destroyed and they actually shut down the athletic programs for several years.
