Nah, just providing the same amount of value to this thread that swagga is.

I mean there’s nothing I can say that is going to change your opinion. You like LIV and defend it vehemently.

But to pretend like LIV and the Saudis aren’t the same thing is comical. If LIV fails it’s a black eye to the Saudi’s. Do they care? Maybe not.

So the PGA & the Saudis will be the same thing once PIF is funding it?
Do people view Newcastle United & the saudis as the same thing?

PIF funds LIV Golf. That’s really it.
I don’t view any of those golfers as golfing for “Saudi Arabia”. They play 1 out of 14 tournaments there.

Yasir Al-Rumayyan’s relationship to Greg Norman/LIV Golf is the same as it will be with Jay/PGA Tour Enterprises

I stated that him & his team going to play in events like that is doing more than the PGA/AGNC are doing to grow the game *in those countries*.

Prestige may have a lot to do with it, but I’m pretty certain that the Masters is a bigger tournament in Saudi Arabia than LIV Jeddah is.

Nice to see Ortiz getting some OWGR points - he might work his way back into Olympics.

Gooch not qualifying in any of these is insane given how impressive his play was last year on LIV.

Well he said if Rory wins the Masters it will have an asterisk to it, which is hilarious.

I think he is just really really dumb.

1. He didn’t think playing LIv London would actually ban him for pga events even though it was directly told to them. He possibly didn’t even have a signing bonus with liv as He only planned on playing a few events

2. His Ryder cup comment

3. This

He maybe a nice guy but he seems brain dead. Kinda has that look too

His comment about the Masters was silly. There are 13 players from LIV in the field. Without saying it, he thinks there should be an asterisk because he isn’t in the field not because the best players in the world aren’t. If he truly feels that way, then he should say that about Rahm’s win last year.

I mean he is from Oklahoma

It’s kind of hilarious that he thinks if Rory wins the Masters, then it’s not legit because he, Abraham Ancer, & Dean Burmester aren’t playing. I’d take his comment more seriously if DJ, Rahm, Koepka, etc were being held out because of LIV.

I think he got what he wanted though.. most people probably forgot he was being left out of the Masters.
Rory won “the match” last night, but if you google Rory’s name today this is the first story that comes up.

He also didn’t try to qualify. Niemann wanted to play in the majors, so he made an effort to do so, and got a deserved exemption for this and is getting his OWGR up.

Gooch just complained.

I mean technically Gooch has won more than Niemann this past year, but that was a bold strategy if he was counting on Fred Ridley to acknowledge his performance on LIV

Gooch says some things that make him really unlikeable. It’s hard for anyone to take his comment seriously considering his major record.

I’m sure Jon rahm didn’t appreciate it.

Gooch had 1 win in 123 pga starts

He has 3 wins in 24 liv events

There is a reason Fred doesn’t look at the liv events

You’re such a clown throwing that out there. He obviously improved & started playing well in 2021.

He has 4 wins in his last, what, 50 starts?

Ok, how about this

On the pga tour starting in 2020, he had only 6 top 10s in 46 starts with one win

You are the one that brought up 2021

So I started with the 2020-2021 season for you my man

Gooch has not been a top golfer with any consistency whatsoever besides LIV. Make of that what you will.

He also doesn’t even try to qualify for majors. Nobody misses Gooch or thinks his lack of presence at tournaments matters

He’s been a top 50 golfer in the world since the end of 2021. Still is.

You can discredit his performance on LIV if you want.

OWGR isn’t accurate, so you want to use Data Golf? He’s still ranked higher than Koepka & Cam Smith

I think gooch discredited his own performance with his comments. If the majors don’t count, then his LIV wins most certainly don’t considering the number of players not playing.

Regardless a guy who has a career best major finish of T14 is in no position to discredit Rory or anyone who wins the masters this year.

I mean it was obviously a dumb comment, but let’s not be ridiculous. I don’t agree with his comments about Rory & if he wins the masters, but I also don’t agree that his performance on LIV just doesn’t count.

He made those comments & got what he wanted, attention.
