Pope Francis Clarifies, Again, Why Some Don’t Like His Blessing Of Homosexual Couples

Because some people see homosexuality as a bad thing.
RT
quote:
“Those who protest vehemently belong to small ideological groups. A special case are Africans: for them, homosexuality is something ‘bad’ from a cultural point of view, they don’t tolerate it,” he told La Stampa. “But in general, I trust that gradually everyone will be reassured by the spirit of the ‘Fiducia Supplicans’ declaration by the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith: it aims to include, not divide,” the pontiff added.

Remind me again, Francis, what does the Bible say on the subject?

Apparently, he and many Catholics believe the pope overrules the written word.
quote:
Romans 1:26-28 ~ For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done.

If the Pope overrules the written word of the Bible on the subject, does that mean that someone could consider a pope to be an antipope whose actions are to the detriment of the church?

Yeah, uh, someone needs to tell his imminence that it is "bad" from a biblical point of view as well...

There’s a reason there was never a Jesuit Pope prior to Francis. You’re seeing it now.

He can put as many shiny bows on that turd as he wants, but it's still a turd.

Pretty sure a bunch of the letters of Paul state that the people are to be molded to the church and not vice versa.
And Paul is considered to be the first pope.

Ummmmmm… no.
St. Peter was the rock upon which the Church was built. St. Paul was the great evangelist.

St Peter.
St Paul wasn’t a pope.

My bibles have multiple references against homosexuality, but I'm sure my copies are just wrong....

My theology is not what it should be but the point remains.
The entire point of the church is for the teachings to remain constant and not just make it a buffet to pick and choose what we want.

This is what is destroying pretty much every church in this country... Changing / bending the "rules" in order to become more inclusive and less "offensive" to others... The compromise is sickening...

A low point of this was when they made a gay alcoholic into the Episcopalian bishop of New Hampshire. And it has only kept going down from there.

So, it's Jesus's words vs the Pope's words. Think I'll go with Jesus.
That said, I lend respect for those who embrace homosexuality as a matter of their personal God-given Right to do so, but I expect the same respect from them in turn re my own belief that a homosexual lifestyle is spiritually inferior to that of a lifestyle which results in children.
Of course, given the dysfunction of the current culture, dysfunctional parents having children is an injustice to the children. This assumes that the children born into these negative and painful circumstances did not earn and deserve such based on another life before this one...which is what a lot of religions have always believed. I.e., that people bear their 'Karma' and are judged into their next life based on their actions and beliefs in this one. This I believe, lest there is no God and Justice becomes subjective and societally irrelevant.
A caveat to this is that "it is appointed for a man to live once, and then the judgment...". Jesus also said that "he that seeks to save their self, shall lose their self...". The implication therein is that each life/person is unique as that particular person, and that particular person will never again exist. Totally unique and existing only for the duration of a single life. Fine with me as I aspire to dropping my current version and moving up; "new wine for new bottles" as it were. And I definitely want children and grandchildren to be a major part of my next life. Love is key. Creating a child and being responsible means one has skin in the creative game, and only in that way can they understand God's 'dilemma' in regard to creating imperfect, limited (in effect, 'evil') children.
To each their own.

Maybe Pope Francis is unfamiliar with the first chapter of Romans.

The Episcopalians already have that market cornered.

The Methodists and a few other branches are attempting to horn in on that.
