#Texans QBs coach Jerrod Johnson has a second, in person interview with the #Saints for their OC job today, sources say.

Just 35, the former CFL starter and NFL backup was key in CJ Stroud’s development this season, along with OC Bobby Slowik. He’s had multiple OC interviews.

I mean I kinda wanted Zac Robinson or Brian Griese more. However, I did like him and honestly it could really be worse lol.

Throw kubiak in that group, and I'm fine with any of them.

Yep. Of the guys left that we’ve interviewed I’d put those 2 and Kubiak at the tip top of the list as A grade hires…I’d put Johnson more as a C+. I believe all the stuff about Johnson helping Stroud, but what we really need is a creative scheme that can help our guys be open, our RBs to have good running lanes, and opponents confused. We don’t need a QB whisperer. Obviously Carr can improve too but the scheme was our biggest problem. This guy is pretty new to coaching and basically only has the 1 year of exposure to the Shanahan/McVay offense. I’d rather have someone who really came up in it.

All that said, I’d definitely take Johnson over Gruden, Curry or that dope from the Steelers.

It'd be a complete.shocker if he's not in Atlanta as OC. To all parties involved.

I mean I sorta expect it too since they worked together, but is that the only reason for the speculation?

They are just going through the motions with other interviews to satisfy the NFL. He's the guy for Atlanta. All the reports are accurate.

I mean, maybe. But he seems to be the most sought-after OC. Heard Pittsburgh is trying to get an interview as well.

He is at least 8 teams in by now. Not sure he is really a lock for a anyone at the moment.

Doesnt bode well for us if he has options lol

Super lazy to think he’ll just go to the Falcons because he worked with the HC. He’ll go where he thinks he will have the most sucesss and the Falcons don’t have a QB. He’s going to have options.

Super lazy of you to assume that's why I'm saying it. I guess we'll see who is right. Heavy odds for ATL right now. Would take a haymaker offer from someone else to change that.

Now, the Bengals are paying way over market to promote their asst to OC, so who knows. Ridiculous amount of OC openings right now. Like over half the league.

A week about Belichick was the heavy favorite at Atlanta. Just saying.

That was a play by Belichick's PR machine. Blank was interested, but it was always far from a done deal.

Insiders from every network have strongly linked those two together. I don’t think they would put that out if it wasn’t true.

Cj stroud is quick and gets rid of the ball. The first thing I notice on rookie qbs, is how often they take hits and cj almost seems to never get hit for a rookie, gets the ball out or rolls and throws it away without hesitation. In the NFL, I feel like that's the base of the pyramid everything else can be built upon. (One of the things I'm nervous about with jayden)

Well, we don't have anything like that, so it'd be interesting to see how he does, and how predicated his offense is on having that.

Eta: I just looked it up and cj got sacked more than carr, so I guess I'm full of shite.

Supposedly Morris told management he was going to be his OC if hired as the head coach in interviews.

Stroud: 7.1% sack rate, 24th in nfl
Carr: 5.4% sack rate, 7th in nfl

ETA... I see your edit. I do think his high sack rate helps his great yds/att, which was 3rd in nfl

What has he done as a coach?

This is like saying to bring in Brees - a lot of what made him great is almost uncoachable (insane processing speed and field vision)
